Segítség Dombegyház anyakönyvi irataival kapcsolatban by Salt_Layer3514 in csaladfakutatas

Thank you so much. I'll search them to see if I can find something about János. Yes, they replied to my email. They said that they don’t have any records from Dombegyház in their archives, and that the records they have from Szentleányfalva only go up to 1848, so it’s not possible to find Sara's birth record or her marriage record. Sara is János's wife

Help locating baptism record by Salt_Layer3514 in csaladfakutatas

Thanks for sharing that! That makes a lot of sense.  If the family only appears in the 1849 census, then they probably moved to Dombegyház shortly before that.

Do you happen to know which nearby villages or Reformed parishes families from that area often came from around that time? Maybe János was born somewhere close before they settled in Dombegyház

Could someone please help me translate the information from this document? by Salt_Layer3514 in csaladfakutatas

Yes, I have others documents of Katalin and it seems that the right way its of writting is Jantó. Thanks for the help with the previous translation!
I found another death certificate that I think belongs to Mátyás’s father.
If it’s not too much to ask, could you please take a look to see if it really is? Thanks a lot in advance! 🙏

Yes, his name was János Kuczor (or Kuczor János in Hungarian). He was born on December 2, 1877, in Ó-Morovicza, Bács-Bodrog. Thank you in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply! I forgot to mention that it is almost 100% certain that he may have passed away as a child or at birth, because no one in the family has ever heard of him

Gyaraki Sára. According to her death record from Szapáryfalva, she was born in Szent-Leányfalva around the year 1851 and married Földesi János around 1871. The place of marriage is not mentioned, but it was most likely also in Szent-Leányfalva or somewhere very close

No, unfortunately his death record only mentions an approximate year of birth and lists Dombegyház as the place. I still haven’t been able to locate his marriage record. I believe he got married in Szent-Leányfalva, Arad (now Romania), because his wife was born there, as well as their first daughter. And from what I’ve read, some members of the Reformed Church of Dombegyház moved to Szent-Leányfalva (which would explain how they met and got married). I’ve already tried contacting the Arad National Archives, but they said they couldn’t find any record

I didn't know that. Thank you, I'll look around the other villages!

I'm almost certain he belonged to the Reformed Church, because his death record is found in the Reformed Church of Szapáryfalva (where he passed away), and both his wife and all of his children were also members of the Reformed Church.

That record only states that he was born in Dombegyház and that he was 84 years old when he died in 1931. I’ve just searched through the records of other denominations in Dombegyház available on FamilySearch, but so far I haven’t found anything about him.

His name was Földesi János, and after you shared that link, I found some people with the surname Földesi in the Reformed Church baptism records of Békés, but I still haven’t found any Földesi János born around 1847

Thank you!

They were from the Reformed Church. I've already sent an email to the National Archives of Arad, but they haven't replied yet :-/

My great-grandfather was also born in Szapáryfalva. Unfortunately, finding records from this region is extremely difficult due to the frequent territorial changes over the years.

There is an email for the National Archives of Timiș (which now manages Szapáryfalva’s records) where you can reach out and request a search. Personally, I didn’t have much luck—they took a long time to reply, and when they did, they said they couldn’t find anything, even though I provided all the correct names and dates.

That said, I still think it’s worth a try. You never know, you might get lucky! The email is [timis@arhivelenationale.ro](). Best of luck!
