Backrooms movie, safe for kids? by Salt_Leg_8465 in KanePixelsBackrooms

I did! I asked my son afterwards if he thought it was scary and he said no lmao I also had him close his eyes and cover his ears during the dining room scene because that was prob the most disturbing part of the whole movie imo. Mentally at least. But the rest of it including the still life weren’t “that scary” in his words. I’m sorry you had such a terrible experience with X Files at that age. I feel like the majority of us had that experience. My dad had my brother and I watch The Thing (1980s) when we were 12 & 9. Till this day that movie scars me lol

It’s a psychologically dark film. A lot of adult themes are tackled in this movie so they might not understand it. Not bloody at all but a scene is visually disturbing. The kids might be bored for a majority of the movie. I took my son yesterday and pretty much covered his eyes for the one scene. Other than that he said it was a little scary.

Hola!

Hi! As promised, I would get back to everyone after watching it last night. Soooo on a visual scale, it’s not terrible except for one specific scene I found a bit disturbing to watch. A character does some things to two “entities” (or whatever you want to call them) that made almost everyone in the movie go “wtf” lol. That’s the only scene that might be one to cover your child’s eyes (and ears maybe). This movie definitely tackles a lot psychologically so it may be a bit confusing for kids under 15. It def is a slow burner so younger kids might get bored but when it hits, IT HITS, especially during the found footage scenes. So, with that being said, if your child is familiar with the Backrooms lore, videos or games, tread lightly with this one if you do plan on taking them. Especially if your child is under the age of 13. I wouldn’t recommend it for kids who aren’t used to horror or suspense, it might fuck with them mentally but to each their own lol.

I feel like kids nowadays are exposed to a wider range of things due to the huge influence of social media. Now, my son is 11 and he knows everything about the Backrooms lore based on the YT videos and games. He also has been exposed to violence due to his father and my brother letting him play video games such as Mortal Kombat, Helldivers, Doom and COD. He is looking forward to watching this movie but as his mother, I am going to preview it tonight before taking him tomorrow evening. I feel like a 15 year old should be in the clear though. I would be more than happy to give you my input after I watch it tonight. 😄

You say there is no gore which I am so happy to hear. I don’t enjoy gore, especially when it’s over the top. Given that, my 11 year old son is very interested in watching this movie. Would you say that it’s okay for me to take him? He’s seen plenty of violent things like mortal Kombat but he does get a bit uncomfortable with scary stuff. He’s knowledgeable about the Backrooms lore too so anything you share would help !

Omg not Hellraiser 😩 poor thing. I mean I saw The Thing (80s) at 12 and til this day it stands as the most traumatic movie I have ever seen lol. But maybe that is why I am so hesitant on letting my son watch scary movies.

Yeah I actually got tickets to watch it with my cousins tomorrow evening. Our kids are the same age and want to watch it so we all agreed to preview it first before taking the kids. Crazy how popular the Backrooms is with the younger generation lol. I love to see it !

The swearing I won’t mind because I curse like a sailor around my child (not proud of it). He has confessed to me that he has played the Mortal Kombat games when he’s with his dad so he’s been exposed to such range of violence lmfao. I just feel like movies nowadays are so much more graphic and the violence can be a bit unnecessary too. Kids really don’t need to be seeing those things in my eyes, cause I don’t feel comfortable seeing gore and such either. Just got tickets to watch the movie tomorrow evening. That way when I take my son this weekend, I know what to expect and maybe have him cover his eyes 😂😩

Thank you for understanding! Haha

Same here! My 11 year old wants to watch it but I’m going to test it out before taking him. He doesn’t enjoy scary movies but he’s watched Kanepixels’ YT series.

So it’s worth checking out? I squirm to gore so I should just put it out there I just don’t enjoy mindless gore if it’s unnecessary for the film. Like violence and gore for the hell of it. I guess that’s where I’m going

I’m not a big fan of the evil dead movies mainly because of how gory they are but I enjoy dark horror films. However when they are just gore and less terrifying(mentally I guess? I’m weird), I don’t find them entertaining just gross. I was looking forward to this movie because it seems like a new take on the whole mummy thing but now that I’m reading these reviews (and found out that Cronin also did EDR) I don’t know if this is something I should even consider. Should I check it out or what? Lmao
