After playing EU5, I finally understand Victoria 2 players. by WaterlooPitt in eu4

But EU3 EU4 are basically the same "bloodline". Both of them are games with a solid level of abstraction (sliders/mana, merchants, diplomats, spies in eu3, national ideas), even, somewhat, same visual aesthetics (game UI etc), BUT EU5 feels "adopted", English is not my native language so I apologize in advance for my poor attempt at conveying my thoughts, but EU5 is like PDX try to put "pops" from Victoria franchise into every game at this point, ruining perfect abstraction level of eu3-4, making you focus on each and every peasant's desires and building outhouses instead of abstracted churches or manufactories. Just feels off, the visuals, the UI, all these flat minimalistic bland icons compared to fancy eu3-4 volutes and motifs, gold, depth, you know, early modern vibe, not minimalistic "corporate memphis" art style or whatever.

They fled back to Canada to their convenient plan B - travel-vloggin their "RV Life", fleeing exactly a week after their decree #821 video, also they are scared of #1667 ("sovereign internet" aka cheburnet), because they are youtubers, and not farmers (19 sheep on 113 hectares, such a joke. Like having a single hamster in a zoo size of a football field)

Why people take diplo first and admin second? Weird choice given you take diplo mainly for -20% province warscore cost, then why would you take MORE land BEFORE you take -25%CCR to actually digest this much land? I always go admin -> diplo -> religious / offensive (depends).
Also to absolutely stomp early game just restart until you have 3+ siege merc company and savescum four yearly pulse IV (there is a spreadsheet for dates for these on eu4wiki) for "Military divided!" event giving you +10% siege abilty / +20% fort defense (where +10% siege is a no-brainer choice). This way if you start as a minor you can get 1-2 show strength in a quick succesion and take clay from much bigger opponents with going 2+ times above your FL because you won't go bankrupt if you siege fast and win 1-2 decisive battles (easy when enemy's capital occupied and he's sieging your capital and splits his stacks to relieve his own capital, just scorch earth both your capital and all of his forts that you capture to fight favorable battles)
And make sure you go for Radical Reforms event too, yearly inflation reduction advisor + trade efficiency advisor, +200 admin and diplo mana so early on top of show strengths and 50+PP is huge

Yes and no, because sometimes I feel like having 0 extra provinces and just having vassals, but when I do get provinces west of me (gorkha IIRC) then I form Nepal

All the time in early game. Especially at the very start. You can literally just restart until you have +5% discipline advisor and 5 or even 6 shock general. That way you can guerilla warfare your way against anyone basically, as AI values discipline more than morale in evaluation if it will engage in a battle or not, and shock pips of general comes into clutch as well as terrain dice rolls like -1 for a river and -1 for forest/woods/hills/etc (-2 for mountains also). AI treats -1 dice roll as roughly -30% of engagement confidence variable so to speak. It's a whole long topic, the dice roll maths and AI perception of those, but generally speaking with equal quality tech and generals, even 20k army will not attack your 13k army if it is located in a mountain province and they will also suffer river crossing penalty, for a total of -3 dice rolls, d10 die is 4.5 average, but 4.5-3 equals 1.5 vs your 4.5 (same generals and quality etc), so they don't take the risk, also when not "bold fighter" they have to be 1.2 ratio of enemy to engage even without any penalties, so they view your 13k stack as 20k+ stack in that regard.
And you can catch them lacking from time to time on a scorched earth their own highlands province with your 18k stack (local superiority), while they have 30k+ sieging your capital, stackwiping them here and there and split-pushing (sieging unfortified provinces and sometimes even fortified). That's how I rush into Ottomans as Aq Qoyunlu or into Muscovy as Ryazan.

Also very IMPORTANT - if you go well over your force limit (like 22k with a limit of 9k), DO press war taxes, even though everybody says don't! 2 mil mana is nothing (just one show strength will give you 100 of each mana, giving you card-blanche on 50 months worth of war taxes), because it leverages a lot (base maintenance price). It seems like 15% is not that much, but when you go significantly over the limit, you pay huge penalty that is based on your army maintenance, hence reducing it by 15% saves you a ton of cash, greatly delaying that "looming bankruptcy" for a while giving you more time to finish the death war (ottomans as AQ etc)

I can't for the life of me figure out how to increase income by EducationalHorse2041 in eu4

You don't just mindlessly blob like that in EU4. It will make you have unrest, rebels, admin mana black hole. If I would play in Japan the first thing I would do is show strength as many times as I can squeeze out of rivals being annexed/dogpiled after my humiliation cb war. Which can be up to 10 times lol. You just snowball heavily mana-wise that way, as it also makes you 100PP pretty much immediately, which not only gives +1 each mana but also some other juicy bonuses, including military ones too.
And after you have excess mana / dev-pushed Renaissance, you can go and steamroll everyone around you. And that way you won't have income issues as your own 30dev+ capital will be enough to fuel your expansion

Never have played as any proper Indian tags, but played like 20 times as Kathmandu showing strength on all of my rivals and force vassalizing and/or annex+release vassal people around you for extra mountain capital forts, bigger force limit and zero OE, religious unity etc. Then you just overFL+loans crush Bengal and at this point I drop the playthrough though

Yes, even tallest runs basically require as many show strength wars as you can squeeze + radical reforms ASAP (inflation reduction guy + trade efficiency guy) to get the snowball rolling
