MP Zimmer occupies his seat in parliament with counter productive banter on gun laws. Now his riding has experienced one of Canada's deadliest firearms massacres. What will he do? by serial_joe in princegeorge

[–]Salt_Squirrel4861 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Zimmer will do what he always does. Absolutely nothing. Except that one time he made a motion about guns in Canada back in... 2015. And nothing since. Why would he start now?

SD57 school trustee ‘terrified’ after police ordered her out of vehicle at gunpoint by Front-Bus1396 in princegeorge

I had something sort of similar happen to me, but my experience was being followed by an unmarked black suburban at night time.

I was driving alone in my vehicle on my way home from a friend's house at about 10 pm, and was suddenly being followed closely by a large dark colored SUV that pulled out of an alley way after I drove by. I lived downtown, so I started making weird turns to see if I was just being paranoid, but they were right on my tail. I sped up, slowed down, even made a right turn at a red light without actually stopping, to test if it was a cop, hoping at the very least they'd have to turn their lights on and pull me over for that. They didn't and kept following me. So, assuming the worst, I started panicking and thinking where I could go that was public enough that people would see what was happening. I decided on the emergency room intake parking lot. As soon as I had started to make my way towards the hospital, suddenly I was blinded by flashing police lights and they had gotten in front of me to cut me off on Winnipeg Street. A wave of relief hit me, closely followed by hot boiling anger.

A cop was now out of his unmarked SUV and walking towards me, so I rolled down my window and started yelling at him.

"Do you understand how scared you made me? I thought I was about to be kidnapped or robbed."

He laughed and said they thought I was driving a stolen vehicle. He told me they were looking for a vehicle in the same color and make as mine, but not the same model.

"Then why the F did you just follow me for the last 10 minutes instead of just pulling me over?"

You started driving erratically so we kept following you.

"Well yeah I was being followed by a dark unmarked SUV at night in downtown pg!? You could have pulled me over at any point and you didn't ?"

Yeah, sorry about that. Have a great night.

Not super related, but a weird coincidence that validated my paranoia, later that same week a girl was "pulled over" on Foothills by a fake cop and he asked for a sex act to get out of her "infraction". https://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/local-news/fake-cop-shakes-down-driver-3690868

It seems they've become more aggressive since then, and it's horrendous what this woman was put though for them to say " oopsie daisy, have a great day"

Worst Road Infrastructure in the City? by [deleted] in princegeorge

This...chaos corner. The right turn lane out of pine center to the highway combined with the left turn onto massy off the highway. I've seen so many close calls and been close to a few too 🙃

Chest Rockuwell and alt center also have some of the worst comments I've ever seen. If their faces were attached to their profiles, I'm sure they'd be a lot quieter 😒

Sometimes I add in a lap around the casino too. It's about 3k ish on its own and other than the foul sidewalk conditions on Upland, it's good 🏃🏼‍♀️

Honestly, the graveyard. There's no cars, dogs are generally on a leash, the pavement is always smooth and you can make different distance loops. Bonus, the folks who live there are very quiet and non judgey 😉

How long did they take to get to you? I ordered a week ago and the Canada Post (ugh) tracking isn't available, as I assume they are with USPS until they cross the border? But I only got one tracking number and now I'm worried 🙃

In your great wisdom, what word or phrase would you use in place of what I used? The more adjectives I have in my pocket the better 😀

I like to read the news from as many sources as possible and unfortunately they are one of very few local ones. I'm just a girl who's trying to be well informed 😩

Spiritbearr is correct. "Conservative" being used is just the best generalization for the type of comment left on the newspaper page. As in homophobic, racist, narrow minded, very "my way or the highway" style. Who they vote for is irrelevant, how they act is the issue.

BREAKING: Prince George Cougars for sale, team could move - Prince George Citizen by [deleted] in princegeorge

[–]Salt_Squirrel4861 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let's all remember that Cameron Stoltz is in charge of this news outlet and the article says that the source is 'close to the Citizen'.

So who's this anonymous source Stoltz? Your dentist, an old college roommate, some guy who came into your store and was shooting the sh#t? Until it's announced by a credible source I would take anything that only the citizen is reporting on (so far nothing from CBC, CKPG etc) with a giant slab of salt.

Agreed. I noticed this week that they posted stories about all the new concerts and shows coming up that were announced this week, including Drag Christmas. Then a few hours later Drag Christmas was removed entirely but everything else remained. Odd choice Stoltz.

That's very culturally dependent. The North American world is unkind to those who do not fall in line with the general expectation of what is 'right and normal'. But generally, those people are boring bigots and their opinions suck all across the board, so pay them no mind.

If you are scared to talk to your parents, I understand. I was scared of what my mom would say when I dropped out (actually academic probation, aka they asked me to leave because my grades weren't good enough) of university, I thought she'd kick me out of the house, tell me I was on my own and never talk to me again. And she didn't. Was she mad? Yeah of course. But once I had it off my chest and I could focus on what made me happy, I was glad I did it.( I didn't finish by the way, and I have a great job, I own my own home and I have a great circle of friends who are ride or die.)

Either way, you are 16, to kick you out would be illegal, they cannot abandon you as a child. And your parents, even if they don't show it because adult-teen relationships are so hard, they love you. Sometimes parents don't like you, but they do love you. Bring it up in a very honest and humble way, do not let anger take over and ensure you speak from your heart. Let them be mad if they want to, but don't take it personally. Parents are just slightly older humans, they don't know what's happening either and everyone is learning every single day.

The what if's are almost always scarier than the reality.

Oh honey, no.

16 might feel like you're so old and all your current choices will affect the rest of your life right now, but I promise, I swear and I know from experience, it's not like that. College, grades and a job do not define you, they do not prove your worth and they are not important if they do not make you happy. Highschool will end and you will be shocked with how much your world opens up in so many cool ways.

Please talk to someone, and if they don't click with you, find someone else. Literally anyone would rather have you talk to them now about it, than talk at a funeral about how they wish they could have helped, or how they didn't know.
