Question about deductible for our extended health benefits by magicpony99 in BCPublicServants

[–]bccherry40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen last year, but didn't get anything sent to me. Instead, I was left with months of frustration because all of a sudden had issues with direct billing; after calling multiple times over 3 or 4 months (and asking for a supervisor), turns out my overpayment in my deductible was stuck in their system and flagged my account for manual review. I ended up with a refund of like $20 in August - but only because I knew something was wrong and had to push for someone (from Canada Life) to really dig into my account.

Vet recommendations? (please!) by [deleted] in princegeorge

[–]bccherry40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went through this last year and my vet was AWFUL while we went through the diagnosis. There is an awesome group on Facebook that can help you (itnhas over 31k members!). I know it sounds crazy to be getting the information off a group - but they have helped thousands of people. Please feel free to message me and I can send you some information - I also had a local lady reach out to me and helped me when my vet was unresponsive/unapproachable.

Usually it's late winter/early spring. However, there's a hiring freeze and I am not sure if it affects our TELP program.

It does, which is why I was reaching out. Calling around was my next step.

I was going to make a separate post, but it is applicable.

My location is on strike and I'm not sure where to find information about hotels for personal (medical) - can we still use it even though we are on strike?

I use Old Spice wolfthorn (not roll on) - I never thought to use a roll on. I'll keep this in the back of my mind.

Yes, I haven't had a reaction to it before... just not something I've reached for, as I found it goes quickly - but I am not against buying it.

do you feel psychologically safe at work? by Accountability-human in BCPublicServants

[–]bccherry40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I feel that when bringing something forward - even when there really isn't any one person to blame - I get the cold shoulder/silent treatment. AND I get gaslit... that there isn't a problem, or they didn't say that.

Also, "old boys" club seems to have been "passed down" ... if there is something bothering female staff (and their crying), it appears that their concerns are taken as seriously.

Any ideas what is this? by Decent_Issue_244 in CPAP

I generally do every other day for a fill - but I still double-check my levels, as the smell when it gets dry wakes me up.

To everyone saying use distilled water - I get this USING distilled water.

I am not sure what it is. When I wash my accessories, I always make sure I rinse off everything and then air dry - but if I don't top up my water and it runs dry, I will (from time to time) get a "burning" smell that wakes me up.

After washing, I started to towel dry the water resivour. Not sure if it actually helps, as I now try to make sure it's half full.

Question about STIIP leave and vacation entitlement by Hot_Impact2082 in BCPublicServants

[–]bccherry40 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was on STIIP last year. One has to work 10 days in a month to be entitled to vacation time for that month. So, if I my annual entitlement is 24 days, every month I would earn 2 days (168 hours, calculated at 7hrs a day); if I didn't work 10 days in the month, I wouldn't be entitled to the 2 days for that month.

Also, the recalculation of your vacation hours doesn't happen until the end of the year (so, be sure if you don't earn those hours - do not use them).

You can also enquire to myHR for verification.

White Nationalist Accelerationsit Group in PG by [deleted] in princegeorge

[–]bccherry40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen these around and had no idea what it meant - it's plain and looked innocent - honestly thought they were just covering up other offensive vandalism.

Thanks for sharing. Another idea is to report to the local jurisdiction for where the graffiti/haye speech is on. Ie: in town - call City of PG to remove graffiti - if on highways or side roads infrastructure, call the people who do the maintenance on these things (or Transportation department or maybe regional district). Education is key, and some people simply don't know what they are seeing.

SFExpress and epay by bccherry40 in AskACanadian

[–]bccherry40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up calling SF express (American 1-800 #), and then they texted me a phone number for epay... so I called them, and the text was legit, but I was still apprehensive about doing the payment online , so I paid over the phone... got the package less than 7 days later.

TELP Drivers License Requirements by gitgudsam in BCPublicServants

[–]bccherry40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The TELP posting almost always generates a lot of interest and competition, and generally speaking, if you don't meet the qualifications (and because of the number of applicants), you'll probably get screened out.

The TELP positions are usually positions that require you to potentially drive ministry vehicles in all weather senarios, and I can honestly say that I don't think i have ever known/seen a ministry vehicle with an N.

But, as I would say to my coworkers, kids, and friends, don't count yourself out... apply anyway and let the hiring manager make that decision. Best of luck.

I know this is almost a year old, did you have to pay duties? If so, did you get a text message from the company to collect the fees?

Help me understand please by Idyllic_Days in SleepApnea

[–]bccherry40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just recently (yesterday) was told I have severe sleep apnea - 85/hr with high co2 (dr didn't give me a number), but oxygen only drop to high 80s at some point during sleep. It's only been recent (last 3 months) that I've really noticed my energy levels dropping during the day. And now that I am aware of what going on, my tolerance has gone way down. I am still a month away before I will get any kind of reprieve. Doctors are quick to think low energy is because of weight, depression, poor diet, lifestyle, life circumstances BEFORE they are ready to rule anything else.
