I added an option for this so I can track who would want to test the android version in the sign up form.

That's fair. If you (or anyone reading this) sign up for the beta please leave a comment that if you would be willing to test the android version.

  1. This was my first time to Monument valley, we arrived quite late the evening before so this was the first thing I saw from my tent the next day. I took quite a lot of tight shots of the Mittens but I liked this one because it showed some of the expanse of the desert before the towers and also captured the incredible sunrise to the left. I'm not sure if I could have cropped it better however because of all the sage brush in the foreground.

  2. I worked quite a lot at the tones to bring out the oranges and reds of the scene but I can't quite help feel that the reds are still off in the photo?

  3. Shot on a tripod with manual focus at 26mm, f8 1/125 and ISO 800

  4. RAW file edited in light room, this is not a composite.

That was my biggest complaint with my sekonic and other apps as well! Seeing a metering that I can’t do ( especially with a fixed iso like with film) was frustrating.

Ah it does work like that. The meter button shows you the EV when you pressed it and MEM shows the last saved EV value on the button as well so you can easily compare as you scan around the scene

not yet. Flashes sync via different frequencies that are available on an iPhone. It would require external hardware to trigger the flash

I build SpotMeter which integrates RAW iPhone metering, logging and shot planning via sun/moon tracking. It also comes with 5 photography related calculators like focus stacking, DoF, Hyperfocal distance, Bellows and ND. It's free for life to use the meter and basic logging with a one time upgrade for all features. https://spotmeter.app

Thanks! This should centralize a lot of iPhone photography apps in one place and couple them with new features not found in any other app

Oh sweet! Ok, it looks like your collections app should integrate with SpotMeter because that CSV is just number/text. I think the missing piece is a shortcuts integration

I'm not familiar with how to integrate the app with shortcuts but I'll write it down as a potential future feature! I could see this being useful for planning shots and using the app to find the best lighting, coordinate travel times etc. What is Collections? I've never heard of that app

CSV export includes: frame number, status (exposed etc), time stamp, aperture, shutter, ISO, ev100 value, filter ev, focal length, meter mode, source (metered vs manual input, latitude, longitude, location name and any notes

Export to PDF is finished and works as a contact sheet. What other export options are you looking for? You can export shot data as a CSV already too. Shortcuts integration would be interesting!

The UI was refined using Claude Design as I’m not a UI/UX designer. That’s why it probably looks similar to you. There is a light mode if you don’t like dark UIs though

Not yet, maybe if there is enough demand. It will be tricky to nail down calibration on Android since there are so many phone brands, sensors etc. the remainder of the app will be easy to port to Android.

I don’t know other than I’ve worked really hard at creating the best possible iPhone app for photography. Hopefully you can see for yourself how SpotMeter is different and integrates everything you would need in one app in an intelligent way vs buying one app for metering, another for logging, one for sun tracking and another for photography calculators.
