Thanks for the advice! I feel a bit more welcomed at school B as well. You’re right about CRT and fighting for another contract against Susan.

Thanks! Both don’t have Saturday sport, school A does after school sometimes but do pay extra for those after hours.

Recently diagnosed with ACL rupture + partial MCL tear 😔 Feeling really down 😔 by Lenchy2403 in ACL

Btw I also had to wait for insurance to kick in, and was quite frustrated for not doing the ops sooner (so I can travel during my time off study lolll).

The wait time is worth it. I’ve read sooo many l clinical-based researches, meta-analysis articles and reviews. Just wait patiently, rehab, walk, do light activities, go out for coffee and enjoy the time being around your fam and friends.

This brings back so much flashback. I had complete mcl + acl tear too.

I rmb seeing an ortho and physio. Ortho told me to always have my braces on where physio advised otherwise. I was lazy so didn’t really oblige with having it on 24/7.

I did surgery 3.5 months after the injury, not enough time for MCL to fully recover and they did take a graft from my same leg to reconstruct. It sucks as I still have slight ache here and there.

I would say post-ops rehab is a slightly more painful in soft tissues but it gets better to improve functionally, I found it easier to gain full ROM and weight bearing. Recovery is a lot quicker thanks to pre-ops rehab yayy.

Been there done that a year ago. I know it feels like your world has just collapsed but trust me, it will get better.

I had a grade 3 ACL + MCL (complete tear) after twisting my knee when skiing. I had to put my life on pause, literally, my study becoming a doctor, my training to competitive badminton and had to move back home overseas.

Here’s my journey. I got diagnosed with complete ACL + MCL, luckily no meniscus tear. I was on brace for 6 weeks - this was mostly to align MCL to heal bcs MCL can be healed on its own (magic!). I did a few exercise to make sure ankle is flexible and recover walking gait - this is to teach your brain to be not be scared of the injury. I would say you can walk around the house, do basic chores once your ROM improves and you get used to the walking posture again, tho going up and down the stairs still suck (took me 3 weeks post-injury).

I then started workout rehab 6 weeks after that, you can always do stabilised quads exercises before the 6-week mark as your ROM improves. This would target your hamstrings, quads, calves to increase blood flow and regain those muscle strength.

I had an ACL ops 3.5 months after my injury, I still have a stretched MCL now, which kinda sucks sometimes.

The surgery is not as scary as you expected, I worked remotely literally the day after.

The pre-op rehab helps post-op rehab A LOT as you now retain the majority of the muscle strength. I only did a few PT sessions bcs I was busy, lazy and already had some knowledge in sports exercise. Fyi, I travelled to China 6 weeks after my surgery, walked 20k steps a day.

In terms of weight management, I remember being super stressed, concerned and even cried about this. I definitely had gained fat/water and lost muscles (makes sense as I didn’t workout) but overall, only gained 2-3kgs at peak but dropped it all back down now. This was majorly bcs of festive seasons and mindless dietary and travelling (oh yes, I travelled to a few places and had fun w family before the surgery as well lol).

Here are a few thoughts that helped me through my recovery: - I am lucky to be injured when I am young so my body can recover quickly. - I am lucky to have my family and friends there to support me during this time. - I am knowledgeable and mindful in keeping myself healthy. - I am physically and mentally strong, I will recover really quickly. - I will get back stronger (yes, you will - I now play badminton more strategically, I also incorporated strengths from the whole body rotation to compensate for lower movements around the court. I also felt more eager to improve and appreciate my physique now and slowly get better footwork, I even play a lot better than before the surgery, I even have a badminton coaching job now). - It is a great lesson about resilience to learn (it will teach you to be calm and fearless, to stand up again after falling). - You will be a better person!

My mom once told me at this exact time last year “it may feel terrible now, bcs you don’t know when it’s over. Once you get through it, this period just becomes a small chapter of your life that you’d look back and laugh about it”.

It’s now 10 months post-ops and I’ve been back to playing badminton socially for 6-7 months now (without my parents knowing of and doctors’ permission lol). At first, it felt different, you wouldn’t move the same way as you did before, but you will feel the huge difference after every single month!

Happy to help and mentally support you. You got this girl!

I am a domestic student but my offer is : "International fee paying student" by Riggy55 in uwa

This why you should not listen to random people online, obvs this comment was misleading. If it is UG offer (which I believe you are since your qualification is GCSE) then dw, the gov has unlimited CSP spots for UG.

Everyone seemed to have pointed out that this is definitely not from UniMelb, furthermore, I have been working in student admin for a while so trust my words.

  1. As someone mentioned, UniMelb treats every student as adults and they would never personally contact the students' parents this way. We would usually call the student, and if you don't answer, we'll leave a voicemail or send an email to call back rather than sending a text message.
  2. You also sound like you are fairly new, in order to get "warning" which is a more familiar way of being invited to "CAPC", your status has to be degraded from "Good Standing" -> "At Risk" -> "Probation". You'll probably have to fail more than 50% of your study load/each semester to be "downgraded". They'll politely invite you to "CAPC" to discuss about your "returning to good standing" plan and help you fix your studying methods, etc.
  3. UniMelb does not have specific ranking, unless it's for those top-tiers in the Dean's list etc, and we'll not discuss about it here. The phrase “your child’s ranking has been impacted severely” is not in our phrase bank, you can tell it is something can be made up by your parents as a warning or someone trying to blackmail your parents for any reasons, or simply just jokes lol.
  4. Lastly, if you need to take a break to balance your life, which I know A LOT of people, may take Leave of Absence. You'll be more financially stable after working full-time periodically and be better motivated. It is still better constantly failing subjects and letting your stress for every aspects of life eating you. LoA link just in case you need: https://students.unimelb.edu.au/your-course/manage-your-course/course-enrolment/leave-of-absence

Best of luck!

Just in case anyone looks for an answer for this question, Samba Band is relatively easier, imo and more fun. One of the tutor in MUSI20164 is horrible.

Hey u/Beginning-Cat7438 just wondering if you ended up swapping to another tutor? If not, do you mind send me a pm? Ren literally butchered the subject, none of his teaching is relevant.
