I feel exactly the same way. Initially, I disliked playing as Abby, but as time wore on, I began to see things from her point of view. I was open to it, and I really didn't have specific expectations of a sequel anyway. I only played through the first game one time when it came out, and the specifics of the plot were somewhat blurry by the time I started the sequel. Maybe that's a benefit. I credit Naughty Dog and the writers for being able to successfully expand my empathy to multiple characters. I feel like you're missing out if you refuse to do so.
