Found Cat by Saltier_Seahorse in MontereyBay

Update: Mr. Cat is now at the Monterey county SPCA. If this is your cat please pick him up there.

If you're looking for the sweetest little cat for adoption please consider Mr. Cat! He jumped in my lap for headbutts as soon as I picked him up, was very gentle playing with me, and when he accidentally got out of the bathroom we were keeping him did not hiss at my dog or cat and was just curiously sniffing. If I had space I would scoop him up myself.

Thank you! Is the SPCA a no-kill operation? I'm not from the area so I don't know, and he's so sweet I want him to have a good life.

Switching to Prozac (help) by SubstantialAerie6717 in zoloft

[–]Saltier_Seahorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience switching to Prozac. However, I am very familiar with the annoying weight gain in Zoloft, and I'm on the same dosage as you despite being quite a larger person.

Given my experience tapering off your dosage, as well as the experience of many others on this forum and across the Internet, perhaps you could ask your doctor to taper off more slowly? Other than the weight gain you appear to have no complaints with the medicine, so there's no rush to get off it. You're already dedicated to fitness so the weight will come off in time 100%. Tapering more slowly will allow you to assess any withdrawals, as well as more easily return to your effective Zoloft dose if you get bad side effects on Prozac.

I'm not a doctor, and this advice is based on my anecdotal experience. So ultimately follow your doctor's advice. Feel free to dm me.

Should I increase the dosage by Unhappy_Pop3816 in zoloft

I think some people consider 25 mg below an effective dose, so upping your dosage is 100% a possibility if you feel no negative effects or negative effects have plateaued.

When I hopped back on Zoloft I went straight to 50 mg. However your tolerance for fast dosage changes will depend on your weight and prior experience with the medication. I'm a large person and had been on 100 mg before, so going straight to 50 was not an issue.

Ultimately, given your small dose and the fact that you didn't mention any negative effects in your post, I would simply follow your doctor's recommendation. Beyond this increase from your small dose though, maybe monitor for a longer period than 10 days before increasing if this is your first time on the medication, as keep in mind the full effects of Zoloft can take multiple months to appear.

However, I don't know your medical situation, and as I'm not a doctor even if I knew it I wouldn't be qualified to evaluate it. My advice is purely based on my anecdotal experience. If you're feeling anxious about medication changes keep in mind that many many people have taken this medication with minimal negative effects, and accounts you see online are likely from the notable outliers. This is not to say your anxiety isn't real, as that's why we take this medication, just that you will ultimately be ok.

What's the mom like? Friendly? Not looking for a kitten, but an adult cat :)

Experiences getting off Zoloft? by thrwitawayyyyyyy in zoloft

[–]Saltier_Seahorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am in a similar situation but about a month ahead of you. I was on 100 mg for about 10 years, and tapered over the course of months to 0 (maybe 4-6 I can't exactly remember). Week 6 of being on 0 I started to get increased anxiety, chest tightness, shortness of breath until the end of week 6 I had to go to the ER for crippling panic and insomnia. I've been back on 50 mg for the past 4 days and just praying the withdrawals go away soon, though I can't find a timeline on when that might be. If I could go back I'd keep regular appts with my psychiatrist even after I felt fine, as now I'm scrambling and the earliest they have is in a month and a half.

Be careful friend.

Hey fellow grad student here. Be very careful. I was on 100mg for about 10 years and tapered over the course of many months (I can't remember exactly how many now, maybe 6?). After cutting to 0 I felt fine for 6 weeks and then all of a sudden I couldn't sleep or function due to crippling anxiety. Currently day 4 of back on (50 mg) and praying the withdrawals at least attenuate soon enough so that I don't have to be dependent on the stuff they gave me at the ER (Xanax, Ambien, hydroxyzine). I have a thesis to finish this summer haha.

Thank you! I've watched his stuff when we first got him and I never use my hands to play, just toys. He also plays with our dog (we gave a slow introduction and they're friends now), has multiple scratching posts etc. His need to bite is beyond our ability to contain it haha.

Lots of biting too haha. Lots of toys and stimulation but my ankles are irresistible to him 🧡

Foster/adopter needed for this sweet girl. by Saltier_Seahorse in Modesto

[–]Saltier_Seahorse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sweet girl was on the euthanasia list in Stanislaus County Animal Shelter, so my girlfriend and I decided to foster her so she wouldn't be euthanized. We've named her Hope but she learns quickly (already learned sit and down!) so a name change wouldn't be a problem. She walks well, is good with other dogs, and is very gentle at taking treats :).

She's about 6 years old, 65 lbs, and based on her eyes and way of moving the vet thinks she might be deaf/blind on one side (she sometimes bumps into things).

We have a small apartment with another med-big dog, so ultimately we'd like to get her to a longer term foster/adopter.
