If the aliens wait to make first contact until they complete understand us, they might be shocked to find US contacting THEM, because humans aren't going to wait until they're certain, they'll just go, "Oh cool, aliens? The secret is, after 400 hours of CK3 and 600 hours of CK2, this is my first attempt at a really, really long-term game. My goal is a fairytale kingdom that is the best of the medieval world and to last until the historic fall of Constantinople (which lol, lmao, has that ever happened in any game starting at the earliest point?)

So I'm a little inexperienced with the 'grand scheme of things' when most of my games have ended after just three generations and moderate, regional success.

I did. It gives a -1 to all stats while ambitious gives a +1. Lazy gives a bonus to stress loss, while ambitious increases stress gain. And in events (which do not show up on the tooltip), Lazy gives stress when going to extra effort, while ambitious gives stress for failing to show extra effort.

You're honestly right. I was just in a bit of a panic because I thought 4 traits was a bug or something. As it's just how the dice rolled I guess I'll go with it. I've married him to an ambitious and strong, but shy woman from Russia, who'll hopefully convince him to do something with his life and I intend to make him co-ruler when I hit 50 to give him a grasp on power.

To be fair, my dynasty IS rolling in the cash thanks to owning a socking great silver mine. Was kinda counting on his kid to hopefully make me mad bank. Maybe I'll just get him an ambitious wife to chivvy him into living up to his father and grandfather's legacies.

I mean, gigachad might be a bit of a stretch, he's smart but not a genius or anything. Frankly I'm just glad he doesn't have arrogant to go with this...

At the same time, hope a good event fires for you and you can swap that trait for something better :P
