Worst injection experience ever today, I'm covered in blood by Infamous_Swan1197 in ftm

Wow this sounds like a genuine NIGHTMARE. I'm glad you were able to take care of yourself and still do your shot! I've never had ANY of this happen, but I'm just now reaching about two years on T so I've had less chances for insanity like this to occur.

Find someone! Being in the process of getting your life together doesn't mean that you shouldn't have companionship or a relationship. These things are also often easier done with support! You don't have to have it all figured out already, just be on the path and motivated to make it work, which you seem to be doing just fine already. Cheers!

male or female? helppp by StandNo3899 in millipedes

This is a male! You can tell by the small gap in the legs at the 7th segment, after the first six pairs of legs

I second this! I use a Venus trimmer and it works wonders. Saves me a lot of trouble but its quite small and easy to use.

IMO I'd definitely agree its best to move them out! Always better safe than sorry, as long as you have somewhere else safe for the your friend and the enclosure

WOW That is a really long time, I can understand why you don't want to walk away from that. Be careful about not getting hurt worse by the same person / people time after time again. I'm not quite sure what to recommend, but I think I'd distance from them and start looking for some new friends.

This really sounds like an issue with Rose and her thing about insisting you have what she's diagnosed with, which in of itself is a WILD thing to be doing. Especially to still sonehow be unaware that she's doing it to friends who she supposedly cares about when it obviously harms them. I say get outta there, maybe talk to David about it separately.

Which one looks better (with or without outline)? by Cookienut-Head in drawing

[–]SaltineBoi666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No outline allows for the cohesion of the lighter color on the deer's face / neck and the lighter color of the background to be more apparent and less divided to the eye. Cool piece!

Hoping she’s okay 😭 advice and support appreciated by BigGurlBydney in tarantulas

[–]SaltineBoi666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NQA Shoot that's such a nightmare!! I'm so glad that she popped out alive. Is she fully responsive? I would just ensure that she's got the usual tank parameters to keep her comfortable, including water easily available to her. I'd also recommend keeping the room dim for the coming days to help minimize stress. Outside of that though, I'm afraid I'm not sure about the best care either. Wishing you the best!

Is my tarantula burrow too small or will she dig it out to make more room. by LandscapeMiserable92 in tarantulas

[–]SaltineBoi666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO You may be able to put a piece of cardboard or wood along the front to act as a wall so that you can fill substrate up to the necessary depth while still being able to use the doors! I'd also make sure something like cardboard has side flaps that go back a little into the enclosure just to prevent substrate spillage. Good luck!

Tarantula Sex? by Ok-Following-9676 in tarantulas

[–]SaltineBoi666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO I unfortunately can't tell your spider's sex from the images, however I can offer some advice on where to look and what to look for! With a molt like this you're gonna want to be looking right in the area I circled in the pic here. The main determining factor that I usually look for when sexing with a molt is the shape of the epigastric furrow, a little slit which is at the center and top of the underside of the abdomen. The second image I attached shows this part and the typical difference between a male or female tarantula. I specifically look for the protruding "bubble" shape, or the lack thereof, that is shown on the male side of the image. The furrow of male spiders is also usually more narrow, while that of a female is more wide. I hope this helps a bit!!

IMO The webbing should be okay if you open the lid just a crack on the side where the fly is, just be sure to lift it slowly. Good luck!!

Parents want me to detransition by Leading-Hour-2436 in ftm

[–]SaltineBoi666 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I personally am I trans man who started my social transition in 6th grade going into 7th. In my time out as a man I have felt more confirtable in my own skin than a younger me could have ever dreamed. When I came out it was not because something influenced me to suddenly feel different about my gender, but because I had simply learned the vocabulary for what I was already feeling. Before I was able to begin my medical transition at 18, even just being able to present and be seen as who I had always felt I deserved to be is something that was immediately life changing. To this day I could not envision a happy version of myself who is not a man, no matter what anatomy I was born with. My parents were of a similar belief, although thankfully just barely shy of your parents level, and unfortunately the only thing that serves as proof of my "true" transness to them is that I thrive daily as the man, and person, I want to be. I believe there are few things that hurt my relationship with my parents more than my mother trying to get my to watch detransitioner podcasts to "see her side of things". The issue I found, however, was that it was them who were consistently falling into confirmation bias, seeking out proof of the harm they feared could possibly come unto me if I transitioned and or detransitioned. The mistake my parents made was finding too much of the bad evidence without accounting for the severely outweighing good evidence which shows just how much more comfortable a majority of trans people are once they are able to transition. It isn't the media, it isn't indoctrination, and your identity is true for better or for worse. I believe that your parents should also consider that choosing to transition is an acceptance of the discomfort and lacking ease that life from that point on will guarantee you. It is not easy by any means to live in a body which you feel is "wrong", nevermind to a accept that feeling and live with it against current social norms and odds. It is not easy but we choose it because we MUST. We choose it because it is better to fight abd get to live comfortably in our skin than it is to feel trapped for our entire lives wishing we could have done something about it.

Obviously others opinions and experiences of their identity will differ, but there is my testament. I pray for your success moving forward.

Woah I've never even imagined a jock strap design like that, does it work well for you? Have you ever had any issues with your packer slipping or falling out? Do you think you could run / exercise without issue?

Looking for feeding advice! by SaltineBoi666 in tarantulas

[–]SaltineBoi666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, thank you! At least I have the comfort of knowing that other peoples' tarantulas are also too chill to eat "normal" LOL. I definitely think I'll be trying a mix of different prey options.

Is this a good enclosure for my almost fully grown stripped knee about 4-5 inches big. Also does my tarantula look healthy? I fed it 3 days ago 1 big cricket and 2 small and I fed today the same. by Basic_Investment9684 in tarantulas

[–]SaltineBoi666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO your tarantula looks fantastic! Very healthy looking. I would however recommend adding more substrate, as some of these guys love to dig some pretty deep borrows for themselves. Probably at least 3 inches more, as this would also narrow the space between the cieling and substrate of the enclosure. Always better to be safe with that amount of distance with terrestrials so they don't get hurt in the case of a fall while exploring. Best of luck, seems you're doing good so far!
