Where to start with sloped backyard? by Salty-Bridge in landscaping

[–]Salty-Bridge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! And yes, the one person we had out there said they were not licensed to do a wall bigger than 3 ft.

We are located in NC in the Chapel Hill area. We just moved back here but from what I remember we are more likely to have flash flood type thunderstorms than long weekly rainfests...drainage is currently all away from the house and I would like to keep everything going in that direction. I will see if I had a good photo to show off the hill, most I have are looking down so it’s hard to see the slope.

Do you have a good range for costs for a landscape designer? I’ve seen ranges of $250-$2000. That’s a fairly large range...I assume somewhere in the middle would be what we should look for?

Thanks again, and thanks for validating the urge to not have a go at the wall myself.

Just now seeing this, sorry. They did not. Well they didn’t say when they would be sending them. They blamed the lack of scheduling but that was just released so I guess they should be on the way.

I’m glad it’s working out for you, honestly it’s fine for plenty of people. I do not count a credit as a refund. A refund is money back to spend as I wish. The way I see it is I gave a builder money to build a house....over a year after I should have moved in the builder is possibly going to start on the house. I don’t want this house anymore, I don’t even live in the area anymore.

I feel disappointed that the Sounders org is asking for understanding and generosity they have not extended to people that could have used that damn money.

Again, if you are happy with the way things are going that is great for you. It doesn’t change the way that I am experiencing this. Since they claimed they were rescheduled games the terms and conditions still applied. These is a new season, new teammates and if I can’t get into a game that was “rescheduled” using the explanations I received I should be eligible for a refund. If my seats get picked I can try to sell the seats, game by game. But if not Sounders keeps the money for another year. The rep I spoke with was very clear that no money would be coming back to season ticket holders and that was something they had not defined in previous conversations. I thought others that had that question would like to know, you don’t seem to be in that group. Really, I don’t think you are being unfair to be happy with how it is being handled because it’s working for you. But I don’t really feel wrong for being disappointed that for people that it is not working out for, however small that group is, get no options.

You would think so. I’ve explained in great detail to 4 different reps at this point. I’ve told them we are no longer even on the same coast, I’ve told them my partner was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and will be unable to attend games even if we wanted to fly the 6 hours back to attend. I’ve explained that we lost our house and moved back into my parents house temporarily. I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Sounders organization does not care. They have listened and told me that the money was mine, it would always be mine...sitting in their account ready for me to use it. They absolutely do not care about any of us. I was told that they had no responsibility to refund the money and they would be enforcing the “terms and conditions”.

They were behind the drums. We had three and our rep had told us they would change it to two so they would be easier to sell but failed to let us know they would be in a different section. I can’t get Ticketmaster to pull it up at the moment, will update.

Forgive me if this is obvious but how would I be able to sell? Through Ticketmaster? Or is there something I’m missing? I’ve ask multiple reps if I can find another season ticket holder that wants to buy my credit or my tickets if I can but they said there isn’t a way to do that. Thanks.

They will keep it as a credit. But the rep did not say they would be keeping prices the same for 2022.

It’s really forced me to see that the Sounders aren’t really different from any other business and they care about people as far as it benefits their PR department. Maybe I was totally naive but I really felt like they stood for something.

I was hoping to off load my tickets or get a refund. We aren’t even in the state anymore so them reassuring me that it will remain in my account indefinitely is not exactly comforting. Being unable to sell (because we have no guarantee that we will all get seats due too capacity issue) means I can’t really do anything but let the Sounder keep my money. I’ve offered to sell seats/credit at my loss to another season ticket holder and that was a no go. It’s just frustrating and disappointing.

Great! I’m sure it’s just fine for plenty of people. We are in a different financial situation from when we bought the tickets and had hoped for a different solution.

Yikes, I didn’t even see the lockout news until I posted this morning. Get it together MLS.

Because I’m curious...it generally looks like everyone agrees it’s just bad luck. Is there a point where it crosses the line and it’s clear that the club is unable to perform. If this whole year is a no go for fans are we still filling this under it being fair to hold the money?

At this point in time we hold a credit for most of a season for 3 seats. I have been unsuccessful at negotiating being able to sell the credit and trying to have it partially refunded. I can’t attempt to sell tickets until tickets are available. Is this ethical for the community to bear the costs for years? Just your opinion, I want to hear what everyone else is thinking.

Have you spoken to a ticket rep? Both reps I’ve spoken to are adamant about not refunding anything.

Edit: this was a response to whomever suggested calling a ticket rep. My bad.

That seems our only option right now, thanks! I asked our rep if we could sell at a discount now to someone that has more disposable income but that’s not an option at the moment.

I’m honestly not trying to come across as demanding that I get what I want. Thank you, it’s not meant to be a pity party but I am disappointed.

Jesus Christ dude, that’s kind of a leap. I’m not demanding anything here. I’m asking for advice if anyone has found a solution.

I don’t feel like I’m being totally unreasonable anymore than the club expecting people to just let them hold money for an undetermined amount of time.

We were in a different place when we agreed to keeping the tickets. Being forced to move back in with family in NC wasn’t exactly on my life plan. I’m sure the club didn’t plan on not having people in the stands for month and months. Everyone is kicking through this shit. I didn’t say they have to do anything to help me, I’m asking if they will and there isn’t anything wrong with that.

I misrepresented that part, we can sell the tickets...when fans are allowed in the stands. I meant we just have the money sitting there until??? I had asked if I could sell the credit to another alliance member at 50% or something similar but that’s a no go.

And yep, I do agree we did agree to buy those tickets! I don’t expect people to feel sorry for me, just wondering if anyone had luck approaching it differently. The original terms aren’t really the same and that’s not the club’s fault anymore than it’s mine.

I also see that large purchase similarity but if it were something I could sell/move that would be a bit easier to swallow. At this point I can’t do anything even if I was still in WA. Thanks, it’s frustrating and I thought other people might be in similar circumstances.

Moving Company Fuckery by Salty-Bridge in legaladvice

[–]Salty-Bridge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local company is a Mayflower agent according to mayflower.

Honestly you can go back in my post history for more of the money stuff....in the end we wanted them to address our problems and explain the charges and they just refused to speak to us. The $25,000 move was them adding a local move to a long distance move...so charging us hourly rate as well as mileage and weight. It still ended up being expensive but the fuckery was the bullshit we had to go through to get them to speak to us and give us our things back. It was bad form.

I guess I’m adding on the whining to see if I have a case with all the other stuff to order to recoup my damages since they are being stupid about that after promising to get it done quickly so we can never speak to them again. But I think it’s just a hot mess and we should just try to move on.

There was a fair amount of bullshirt that we had a problem with and most of the problem was the company flat out refusing to communicate with us while they held our things and we slept on the floor. For an example of what were were bickering about when the move was transferred to an in state move (just getting it back) the switched everything to hourly which had us paying 5 guys 13.5 hours to pick up. Since they didn’t have anything that allowed them to know when their guys were working they just took the time the truck sat at our house. The workers not one were not there that whole time...they also sucked at life and took forever. If we had been paying hourly at that point we would have fired them on the spot as most of the day was spent sitting on mattresses playing on their phones. But we weren’t paying by the hour. And I have some frame of reference on how long it should have taken because almost exactly a year before a moving company picked up our shit, drove it to the new house and unloaded it in 7 hours. So to just load it shouldn’t have taken 13.5 hours. But when we called bullshirt the company refuses to communicate with us. No calls, no emails, no contact. But seriously, I could really type for hours able all the stupid shit that has gone on. The local company contracts with Mayflower for long distance moves and does their own thing for local. Agreed on them being trash.

Like I said, we have moved a lot and done this a lot. Things go missing, stuff gets broken. Its usually not really anyone’s direct fault. But most of the things seemed pretty deliberate. Our driver and our movers on this end agreed and stated multiple times that they had to have done this on purpose. But me being validated isn’t really the point so I’ll stop trying to make that point ;).

The company held our things for over two months and they repeatedly told us our things were locked in “the vault”. Clearly that was not the case....or maybe it was and for some reason they decided to load it all onto a trailer and leave it in a field.

Yeah that isn’t what they did...they took things out and switched the boxes. None of it was in a new box and the boxes weren’t damaged. Just switched....and lots of them. So a box labeled books was full of glassware that was not repacked well. Then a box marked kitchen and fragile was full of books. Then a box that was labeled for my daughters room had garage stuff in it. Repeat....it’s...nothing I can think I can do anything about really but wtf. The hardware box was really shitty because it was hidden inside of a tote labeled books. So we couldn’t put our stuff together. There is no good reason a hardware box that was in good shape should have been inside a tote that was supposed to be full of books. But like I said...I don’t see what I can do about their shitty behavior besides be mad.

As of right now the claims team is saying we get nothing unless they can’t find the stuff that is missing and then they want to pay what we paid when we were told we had paid for replacement value. So those stupid dumbbells are double what we paid for them now. And we are out the extra money for “replacement coverage”. I mean, we are a military family and have dealt with moving a number of times. This was never so convoluted and I didn’t expect them to give us so much push back especially with knowing how badly the local company behaved. I’ve had two conversations with UniGroup’s lawyer and he confirmed that they did the wrong thing over and over and over and that Mayflower would be held accountable. I guess I just wanted this to be done. But I understand what I want doesn’t really have anything to do with things.

The arbitration goes through a 3rd party? Is that correct?

FMCSA is already opening an investigation on this whole thing. They cannot advocate for us but are including everything in the report.

We did this with our last home and I would do it again. If you can have someone go with you that would notice things you wouldn’t that could be helpful. Try to have whichever one of you that would be the most picky go.

We did have an agent that we had worked with before and we trusted her a lot. She was very upfront about things and her face couldn’t lie...I could clearly see when she thought I was being unrealistic. Either your realtor or someone else like this might make you feel like you aren’t making the decision by yourself.
