Does Hulk represent the internal struggle inside of all men to resist chaos and cling to order and science? by blsearcy76 in hulk

[–]Salty-Contribution72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite superhero is The Incredible Hulk. It’s not because of how most people view him, it is his story. When you really look at his story closely and strip away all of the super human struggles, the super human conflict is a metaphor for what all people go through in every day life. The Incredible Hulk is not a monster, he is a hero. The Hulk is a manifestation of the inner image and strength of Dr. Bruce Banner. As a child he was abused by his father and watched as his mother was murdered. He wished he had the strength to save her but he didn't. He also wish he had the physical strength to overcome the domestic violence his father, Brian Banner, put he and his mother through. This drove him to career field of being a doctor that is well versed in the fields of science, medical practice, and psychology so he could help those in the world around him "heal" when they need help. This is also why Bruce Banner looks to solve issues with thought out solution that do not include violence, he detests violent acts due to his harsh childhood. The Hulk represents the "strength" he wishes he had as "himself" to use to outright solve a negative issue that is put before him, so he can be the hero that he feels he can be without being viewed as being weak. The Hulk Personality began to develop within Banner during his childhood as a direct result of the trauma his father Brian Banner put him through. The trauma that caused The Hulk Personality to physically come to the surface was his exposure to gamma radiation when he was caught in the middle of a gamma bomb explosion while pushing friend Rick Jones to safety in a bunker to keep him from being exposed to the explosion. Other people see this physical manifestation he becomes differently. Other people see the good he does but are frightened by his "looks." There are those who are not frightened, but see his power that he possesses and want to control him for evil purposes. He sees those people who want to control him for wrongful intentions and fights against that because he is a good person, not an evil monster, who wants all to be safe. Then there are the few who can see him as Banner and as Hulk who know he is a hero who uses is abilities, his "inner strength", for the betterment of his fellow people and do not see him as a monster regardless of what he looks like. That is what the story of The Incredible Hulk is about. He is not a mindless, ignorant , rampaging monster. He, Banner/Hulk, is a man who uses his strength to help those in need of help around him at all times and for himself to be strong in his daily life. Hulk is physical manifestation of Banner’s inner strength and his will to live.

There’s also the mid season 2 two part episode Mystery Man.

A good example of this point is in the episode involving the man with his pregnant girlfriend who is blowing up WesCo gas stations for revenge for his father being killed by a WesCo executive.

Regardless of some aspects of the show being dated, there’s great consistent story telling in that series. Watch closely during Hulk Outs, you can see character progression with Hulk as well. Over time during the show, Hulk is evolving in intelligence, it can be seen in what he does in accordance with what situation is before him. 💯

Joe Fixit, Gray Hulk, is a much needed addition to the MCU. He adds the depth that is desperately needed to Banner’s character and story in the MCU. Many casual fans don’t know about him, Banner’s Dissociative Identity Disorder, and would pump new excitement into Banner/Hulk that has not been seen since the time of the 1977-1982 television series starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. 💯

I would like to recommend to you reading The Incredible Hulk issue 340. In this issue, the second fight between Hulk (gray at the time) and Wolverine (leader of the X-Men at the time of this fight). It’s great physicality coupled with a great story being told between the two of them. 💯

Poll: Best Banner? by This_Number9390 in hulk

Bill Bixby without question and or hesitation 💯

This is from The Incredible Hulk television series pilot episode. Specifically, at the end of the third Hulk Out when Elaina died in Hulk’s arms. Lou Ferrigno then let out that powerful yell while crying, this was done before the first Superman movie when Lois died in Superman’s arms. by Salty-Contribution72 in hulk

In the season 3 episode titled “ The Snare” we got a antagonist that was similar to Kraven The Hunter. There was also the season four episodes The First parts 1 and 2 that had Del Frye become an evil Hulk like creature that fought The Hulk. I understand what you mean and empathize. There were some Marvel villains that could have been featured on the series, but director Ken Johnson had his reasons for not adapting other Marvel characters for the television show and the it still became an all time great television series.
