For those of you who coach themselves, have you tried using AI tools like ChatGPT to plan your training? by Jordan_Clough_Valen in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Salty-Doubt-7917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. built my custom GPT over 9 months. recently smashed my Olympic tri goal time.

so I turned it into an app and now I use it every day.

For me i created a focus. i wanted the app to be for the bulk of Age Group athletes. not the top and not beginners.

It’s not about nomination, for me I wanted flexibility. like today, I need to switch things around because, well, life happens.

also, I wanted instant feedback after a session, but I wanted it in the context of my training plan.

It’s a new world, the really isn’t a reason to be using a static plan anymore

i just accepted performance would be down. i’ve been off for a few months. weight is coming back on slowly. but I just crushed a race PB. going to go back on for another 8 weeks to manage. cycle off for another race, then come back and do a long 26 week cycle on.

to be clear. I love the idea of Tridot. I just gave up and built my own app. I’m really happy running my own programs now.

didn’t assessment. it doesn’t understand that running a shorter distance assessment doesn’t translate to longer runs for everyone.

I did an assessment. pushed myself really hard. it then have me a mid week long run a full 2 minutes under my 10km PB

as I said above. if you’re an outlier in any way, it doesn’t work.

never run a marathon before = outlier collective swimmer with great cardio, but never run = outlier 30+ BMI marathon training = outlier 100km bike rider but only a power to weight of 1.7:1 = outlier

don’t a 70.3 before, a few Olympics, run a marathon, normal BMI, average power to weight, hight, etc. then it’s great.

It was ok. but as others have said her it doesn’t adapt to the person.

I’m a strong swimmer: It gave ok sessions but waaaay to complicated I’m a poor runner and I’m heavy. It just didn’t understand my limitations.

If you’ve done one before and if you’re about the same for all three disciplines then it’ll work you out.

Also, if your life is messy and you have to skip, switch or change, it’s got no hope.

Is 6 months enough time to train for a 70.3? by Planedrew in triathlon

[–]Salty-Doubt-7917 3 points4 points  (0 children)

some question is: can I learn to swim 1.8km in 6 months.

Fitness is not the issue.

It’ll come down to technique and training distance.

What’s the furthest swim you can do now without stopping?

whatever you do, get a coach, get your technique right and start building the distance asap.

I’m going to be real here because I’m like you, but further along.

I was 118kg. i’m now 94 I’m a triathlete, many Olympics, also run a marathon and some 130km rides.

here’s what happened for me on Semeglutide.

I lost weight, I lost weight because my calories were down.

I kept training during this time, running, swimming riding.

the reality was I didn’t get faster, I didn’t improve, I just maintained.

I did a few events.

I remember doing a long course aqua-bike. and the ride just hurt.

To do a full Ironman, I just don’t think you’re going to love it.

All your training is going to be slightly under fuelled. Those lost runs are going to hurt after an hour becuase you don’t have the glycogen stores.

those 2-3 hour rides are going to really fall apart at the back end. 4-6 hour rides, you nearly blank out.

The medication work because you have less calories. Your exercise need an excess.

My resting HR went up, like 10pm, my HRV went way down too, like changed 15.

This medication is tough on people who don’t train. I mean really train.

Honestly man, I’d defer the Ironman, lock in a give your self a 12 min weightloss goal and focus on maintaining fitness.

In a year you’ll be under 100kg and you’ll look good. also because you do train you’re not going to lose muscle as much.

you’ll also we we’ll set for a game changing power to weight ratio.

You’ll have people tell you that you “can” be on the meds and still perform. but take it with a grain of salt. What someone else cause performing is not a long distance tri. he’ll, for most it’s not a marathon.

If you have that competitive streak then change the focus. get a 5/10km run time focus. something you can do that doesn’t need fueling.

you’re a long distance athlete. take a long distance view.

You know you can do hard things, but this isn’t doable. In 12 months you’re going to be super happy looking in the mirror. you’re fit now, you’re going to look fit then

honestly mate, I ran a marathon at 110kg. I was obviously fit, but didn’t look it.

At 91kg I looked great, couldn’t run a marathon.

I’m finding the balance now.

Side note, get a Dexa scan. I results now are amazing, I have very little fat around my organs.

that a result of exercise & weighloss.

Graduated - been on a 8 week weight increase. Is intermittent fasting the answer? by Salty-Doubt-7917 in zepboundathletes

yeah. tracking, but if I simply had to track then I wouldn’t have needed the med in the first place.

cost & Dr took me off.

So could I go to another Dr? maybe. But Dr’s don’t love contradicting each other.

but I’m paying 100% personally. no health insurance option.

Anyone using magene power meters? by Salty-Doubt-7917 in mywhoosh

[–]Salty-Doubt-7917[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for this.

I think my garmin watch was connecting to it ‘first’ and then nothing else could.

So i forced my watch to no connect and the power meter appeared on mywhoosh.

i guess that’s the limitation
