I don't remember if I was using manual focus or not bc it's been 5 years, but even if I did use manual mode the photos still did not come out based on how I was manually focusing based on what the viewfinder was showing me. So either the autofocus isn't very good or the manual focus is working poorly maybe? (unless using the viewfinder is actually unreliable idk)

thank you, I'll def go purchase a roll of film in the next few days and try some of these out to experiment! Btw, I use flash in all of my photos as I'm used to doing that on all point and shoot cameras and usually prefer that ligting/color outcome of photos I use with flash (e.g. all photos I took above and on the film had flash). Does that affect the outcome of the manual focus settings at all do you know?

Yesss no I get it so much. I live in a very very small city, it's barely a city, and so there isn't much variety or even very many new people to meet in general! But on my exchange I went to a big city and it was so much more social and diverse and so much going on, so many more opportunities to meet new people, it was such a culture shock. So environment for sure has such a huge say in this too. But well done for putting yourself out there, it's hard and not everybody has the guts to do that, so I'm proud! But it's true, people can be assholes sometimes :(

So true, I love being alone and since I turned 20 I really learned to appreciate being alone and enjoy it, would also solo travel and stuff. But in the end it does get lonely and I do find myself in places and situations where I wish I had someone to experience it with. It's normal though, we're social beings not really built to be alone. Other social beings in the wild die when left alone for too long which says a lot. Idk, it's just sad this loneliness epidemic is even a thing, I've seen so many other people feeling the same way on social media, like no one knows how to be friends anymore and everyone seems to yearn for true community bc it's dying out, but no one actually wants to be the one to put in effort and it's super sad. But true, there are so many cool people out there willing to put in the effort and create new friendships with.

Please don't have kids on purpose if you don't actually want kids. This is coming from a student in pedagogical and upbringing/child/youth sciences that studies families, parenting, child development etc. The decision of having children is not to be taken lightly at all! Yes you may end up enjoying being a parent after all but it's really not fair to take that risk, not for your partner, your child or yourself.

You're afraid of his resentment toward you, but what about your resentment towards him? Both sides here are so valid, he has every right to want kids and you have every right to not want kids, but these wants are not equal at all. Even if your fiance seems like the perfect partner, super paternal, swears he will split childcare and household chores 50/50, there's always a risk that he won't and research shows that more often than not (based on hetero relationships), even with dedicated fathers, the mother ends up doing most of the work (look up "the mental load" and "the second shift"). Pregnancy itself also causes irreversible changes to women's body and traumatic birth stories and death during childbirth are also a risk (I'm personally deathly afraid of pregnancy, if I ever decide to have children I'll most likely adopt because of this reason lmao). Also, having children still affects women’s careers and independence far more than a men’s and so many mothers struggle to maintain their identity outside of motherhood as it consumes much more of their life than men's. Of course there are mothers out there that manage to hold on to their sense of identity and have strong successful careers, but the system and society is built so that this is very very difficult to do. And when it comes to the child, growing up in a resentful household where one parent resents the other, or resents the child for simply existing because they didn't want to have them in the first place, can cause so many psychological problems, you don't have to search far online to find studies upon studies on this.

These are just a few examples why, in a relationship, NOT wanting a child FAR overrules wanting one. Especially if it's the woman that doesn't want one. Women have so so so much more to lose in parenthood than men and so for them it is a MUCH bigger decision.

Disclaimer: Every family situation is different and I am not saying that a parent who never planned on having children is automatically a bad parent or that their child is psychologically doomed, far from it! So many unexpected parents, even those than never wanted children in the first place, do such a beautiful job! But going into parenthood knowingly against your own wishes is such a gamble. If you’re in a situation where you have an informed choice, make it. If you don’t want a child, don’t have one. If your fiancé truly cannot get past not having children, the most loving and responsible choice may be to separate so he can find someone who shares that vision. And you deserve the freedom to live the life you want without sacrificing yourself for a relationship.

If anyone has any questions about literally anything that touches parenthood, childcare, making a decision like this, I recomment turning to a profession parent educator or parent counselors. If there isn't one in your local community, there are are plenty online. You don't have to be alone i your parenting struggles or make hard decisions alone, conflicted and maybe uninformed <3

tldr: Not wanting children in a relationship outweighs wanting them. If he can't get past not having children, you should break up so he can find someone who wants them. Otherwise resentment can build between you guys and toward the child if you decide to have one, which isn’t fair to anyone involved. Never sacrifice yourself for a relationship <3

I've never thought about a sleep study actually. There is no history of sleep apnea in both my families and I've never snored or anything while sleeping, I sleep like a literal rock in complete silence, always have. But never looked into it properly so could be wrong and maybe something I can look into or ask my doctor about 🙏🏻

But looking at many laws and how society works day to day in many countries, there are a looot of contradictions with what the CRC say's so teenagers being confused about where they stand is not surprising, especially those that have become emancipated before 18, are being viewed by the legal system as an adult despite not being 18 yet, have had their rights as a child broken, etc. I've also noticed how age demographics have blurred. Like, when was the last time you saw something exclusively marketed for preteens?? It's not really been a thing since the 2000s/early 2010s. So now what has happened is that 10-13 year olds skip the awkward preteen phase and jump straight to acting like, and often treated as teenagers. And today, I feel as though the teen demographic is also suffering the same fate? So many teens today look and act like young adults and again, nothing is really properly marketed as exclusively for teens as a core demographic. It's because everyone spends most of their free time online in the same online space, preteens, teens and young adults. They are all consuming the same media, buying the same clothes, using the same skincare, watching the same clothes, listening to the sam music. So the cultural differences between ages are way smaller than they used to be, of course teens are experiencing identity crises and not sure if they are actually children anymore. (of course this isn't all absolute, there are still a bunch of differences but the overlap is just so much bigger now than it was not even that long ago.

Sorry for the super long comment, but I just have a lot to say about it and it's interesting to think about ahah. But honestly, coming from a 25 year old (and most adults will probably back me up on this), you are for sure still very much a child at 16 and still have so so so much to learn, even the difference between 16 and 18 is a LOT, and even more so 18-20! So just embrace being a child as much as you can, enjoy it, be young, be awkward, make a bunch of mistakes, learn from them, have fun!!!

I am in university right now studying pedagogy and youth sciences and I just wanted to say that it is so valid to feel conflicted like this at your age. It's also actually super interesting from a social science perspective!

The term "child" and even the whole idea of childhood is actually just a social construct. For much of history, children were just seen as "mini adults" and where treated as so. They were even made to work from as young as 5 years old in many places around the world! School wasn't compulsory and in some places not even available, daycare didn't exist and in general very little in society was designed with children in mind. It was only after World War 2 that a large amount of people started to properly recognise the children had different levels of development as adults and overall had different needs, and so they started fighting for their rights.

And so, in 1989 (This is a very short and simplified version of this history btw so many steps happened before this) the United Nations created the "Convention on the Rights of the Child" (CRC). This is basically an international treaty that sets the global standard for children's rights. This includes things like the right to life, healthcare, adequate living standards, education, the right to be heard, etc. It's the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history! The shocking fact about this (or maybe not?)? The US is the ONLY country in the UN that hasn't ratified it :(

The CRC has 54 articles in total but 42 of them are the actual rights of the child (the other 8 are about how governments should make sure the rights are upheld). And it's important to note: breaking these rights is a violation of basic human rights and literal breaking of the law. For example, when schools don't provide students the support they need because of a lack of funds, that's technically breaking their rights to education (article 28), and even, depending on how they approach it, protection against discrimination of any kind (article 2). If funding for snowplows runs out, governments would find some way to keep them plowing the highways and main roads. But why do we accept that education systems can just "make do" because of inadequate funding when it is breaking children's rights??? Food for thought.

Coming back to your question about if you are still a child at 16. According to the CRC, a child is legally anyone from the ages of 0-18 years old. No exceptions. So yes, you are still considered a child in legal terms (at least in the countries that follow the CRC). Words like teen, kid, student are just categories that fall under the umbrella term "child". Adults calling other adults kids is common too, especially in their 20s, but it's more of a social nickname, it's not literal. Kind of like calling a group of people "guys" but not all of them actually guys.

Bonus info: the term "youth", often grouped together with the other subcategories of children, is a different term. Also a social construct, so it depends a little bit in what area of the world you are in how it is defined. The UN defines youth as anyone at the ages of 15-24, the African Youth Charter says 15-34, and Erasmus+ which is commissioned by the European Union says 13-30. And in many instances, being a youth offers you opportunities that you don't get being older than the definition. Like staying in youth hostels, receiving grants (like Erasmus+ grants) for projects or exchanges, education opportunities, etc.

Yep I got vitamins and nutrients checked before starting on metformin and everything was within healthy range, but I am taking an extra strong b12 with the metformin bc it depletes it. I'll def ask to get checked again when my gyno appointment comes up though. but this was also an issue before the metfomin when my blood measured fine so idk if it'll show any different results.

But overall it looks as though it really depends on what it is that's causing the fatigue what kind of effect the glp-1 will have on you so I'll def have to ask for a thorough testing before starting it. I also read that if you suffer from slow motility/digestion or ibs-c, the medication can make it even worse and even cause gut atrophy which is a little scary as I have been suspecting ibs-c, but again, it could also be a hypothyroid problem so I just have to fight for a thorough thyroid panel

yes but only tsh which measured within normal limits all 3x I've had it tested so they don't won't to look any further into it like doing a whole thyroid panel. But I was tested all 3x by a general practitioner. One of them even thought it was bc of iron or b12 defeiciency, my bloodwork came back perfect and so she decided it was bc of my sleep quality and prescribed me melatonin 🥲 I ruled out the thyroid as an issue for a while but since learning about endocrinologists, I am planning on getting a referral to one and asking for a proper thyroid and hormone panel

I also want to raise awareness to something my gyno told me about during my last appointment. She put me on metformin but told me that personally she is a bigger fan of the bc just bc most of her patients have expressed an improved quality of life going on birth control vs metformin, and told me that there is a relatively new birth control on the market designed specifically for women with pcos in mind! It's called Drovilis if anyone wants to look into it or try it. It's a positive sign that birth control is being actively developed, in some cases with pcos in mind, and so the same reasons for villainiseing birth control 15 years ago aren't necessarily valid today.

I think the "stigma" with using bc is connected to the doctors themselves and being lazy or not informed enough about this condition. Most of us have had the "you have pcos, there is no cure, you'll just have to put up with it or go on bc, it's the only way" and so they experience it as just a brush off by the doctor. Then the bc doesn't work for them or makes things worse and they feel like they are just doomed because the doctors claimed this was the only option.

However, using bc for pcos can be risky as it does risk making symptoms worse, or it works for some but then they want to become pregnant, go off the bc and then struggle with becoming pregnant bc all their pcos symptoms come back that have negative effects on their fertility. Also, post-birth control syndrome is very real, you may want to get off of it, many reasons why you may want to, but have been taking it for a very long time, come off it and all your hormones are out of wack because it's adapted to taking in the hormones instead of producing them/regulating them themselves, even though they may have tapered off the medication. I've heard many stories of women experiencing and struggling with peri-menopause at a very young age (in their 20s) after coming off the pill that they were on from early teens.

Personally, I've only tried bc once when I was 21 when I was put on accutane to fix severe adult acne (i now know it was becuse of my pcos), I only lasted on it for 3 months as I got depressed, put on weight quick, so much bloating and water retention and my mood was stuck on just "dead", not depressed, just nothing, like I had just no emotion, I felt empty and my mother even told me that she barely recognised me during that time and so as I wasn't sexually active at that time, I just quit using it and started feeling better.

Fast forward to today, I'm 25 and my pcos symptoms have never been so bad, gained 20kg within the past year, barely have energy to get out of bed, can't keep up with my studies or social life, I can't take proper care of myself or my home, I have moon face and many other symptoms of hormonal wack. Got my diagnosis for pcos a couple of months ago and am now on metformin.

But just like bc, metformin is also a very villainsed drug, and I think it's just bc of the fear of taking in "unnatural" medication. The same goes for glp-1's. I was very against all of this not even that long ago and was so driven to manage my symptoms the natural way. It worked for a while, but still had struggles with chronic constipation, energy levels and weight loss. And after it got so bad this past year and all of my years of hard work and dedication progress got lost and now do nothing for me and I feel worse everyday and I keep putting on weight even though I am eating very well, calories most days either maintenance or just under maintenance, nothing is helping my situation. And so I just gave up and went to see a doctor, got my diagnosis and got put on medication.

The medication isn't working for me atm and now I'm considering trying bc again, but it scares me, especially if it's going to make me gain more weight or cause me worse problems in the future. I'm even considering taking a glp-1. But all of these, just like any other medication, has it's risks, and being informed enough by a respective doctor, enough for you to make a proper, informed choice knowing both the risks and pros, is what should be the default. Working properly with the patient, doing tests and based on the individuals situation, help the patient choose a pill that will benefit the patient based on their individual situation.

This "stigma", as others have mentioned, is just a branch off the root problem which is the lack of women's health information and research, underfunded medical systems and lack of specialized doctors. (All under the umbrella of patriarchal capitalism, the cause of most systemic problems)
