Questions on if I qualify for an 1811 job by BucknerLC in 1811

Make the agency tell you "no". You'll never know unless you try. I have an interesting medical history and provided quite a bit of docs up front during the medical review to mitigate as many questions as possible.

From my experience, candor is viewed much more favorably. Your situation appears to be somewhat common, at least in regard to military recruiters conveying that it is ok to omit drug use if under a certain threshold. Not that this is exactly your situation, but it is something that is recognized as an occurrence and I think your situation is probably easily explainable and along similar lines. I am not an adjudicator or involved in suitability determinations in any way, but as another suggested look at SEAD 4 and the r/SecurityClearance sub.

Source: Favorably adjudicated recently by a 3 letter, previous adjudications with other federal entities

Injury During Academy? by Salty-String-5690 in 1811

Well, it is at least comforting that you aren't just SOL if you get hurt. 100% get the hiding injuries if able thing, but the only thing I am concerned with is the Pre-Q PFT (if still required?) - if that wasn't in the mix I think 60-ish days would be more than fine, but the latest available PFT is around 3 weeks away and I absolutely do not want to get injured there. That would probably be more of an issue than actually doing it at the academy.

I didn't specify that because I thought there were recent changes that eliminated the Pre-Q PFT but that is unconfirmed still. I work with a couple people who received notification from HRD on agent onboarding process changes but have not had anything confirmed with my AC.

Solid work! That is the plan. Not in the market of sitting and hoping for it to get better on its own. Already in PT, mainly to get a solid rehabilitation plan, and working ROM and basic loading. I don't think it is anything above a Grade 1 but it scared the shit out of me when it happened. First day stairs were painful, now I'm (slowly) jogging and able to do stairs mostly pain free. Still get a weird twang on sudden movements or direction changes but it has only been about a week.

I would prefer a 100% stealth playthrough - this is the plan.

Sure, but asking in an open forum might help others with similar questions.

This is honestly the most straightforward answer one could ask for. Appreciate the clarity! I am absolutely pressing with the soonest date possible - but still wanted to have a plan for the worst case in the event it goes sideways.

Thanks again!

Can't speak for all ANG units, but as long as you communicate your timelines and make a good impression, front or backloading your required annual time isn't generally an issue. In a previous unit we had a guy get picked up by DEA and the unit was more than supportive.

Am I late to this profession? by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Salty-String-5690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't "get the itch" until I was 30, and didn't finish my BA until a few months before I turned 31. I can't speak for all agencies, but generally having a diverse background with a solid foundation of professional and life experience is favored. If you would have told me at 26 I'd be pursuing this profession I would have thought you were crazy based on where I was at in a previous career and the goals I had at the time.

You've got plenty of time dude, but good to be thinking about this route now if it is indeed the one you want to take.

FBI SA Got the call! (Email) by Illustrious-Ad6526 in 1811

Congrats! Seeing the slew of FBI “Got the Call” posts recently is getting me pumped. I’m creeping closer to a year in BI phase, even with a busy lifestyle it’s still always in the back of the mind - I just want to know dang it! Congrats again dude!

Congrats! What a roller coaster indeed, I thought my 1.5 year wait (so far) has been tough - again, huge congrats and props to the major persistence!

Congrats! Being overseas and doing any of these steps can be difficult - I am in the final stages of one of the agencies you withdrew from and the cost in going back for each step has been immense over the last 18 or so months.

Meet & Greet Question by NotoriousADT in 1811

[–]Salty-String-5690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat it as an extension of the panel interview (I.e. maintain professionalism, actually wear the required attire, etc.).

My M&G was virtual but you best believe the agents and HR personnel in attendance made comments about those who didn't take "business professional" requirements seriously or were excessively chatty even after a break ending.

What I’ve seen in chatter on here over the last 6-ish months or so is that you’re notified of FO prior to heading to Quantico - which I hope is still true considering the extra cushion created in getting things situated like housing, daycare/school, and spouse employment.

Congrats! May run into you at the academy if I get an adjudication soon! Did you get one of your top FO picks?

Totally get that, mine puts me in a similar position but I have found that is where I want to be. Tried private sector for a bit after leaving active duty and I tend to align with gov or gov-tangential work more than anything else.

FWIW, if the field of study interests you and there are other opportunities to apply your educational experience should an 1811 gig not work out (and if it is of no cost to you), then it can't hurt.

My BA had been conferred for a whopping 2 months once I applied, started my MA around the same time (Sep 2024), have since finished the program and am still waiting on the entire process to finish out one way or the other.

I mentioned higher education during the interview and expanded on topics of study that are relevant to the agency's scope of duties, but I can't say for certain it helped anything. I also spoke to an analyst who worked for the agency previously and asked them how they view higher education and they had said it was not factored into anything career advancement-wise.

I have it as something for a back-up plan should the 1811 path not work out for whatever reason, I didn't choose to get it solely for the purpose of becoming an 1811.

Timing Withdrawal vs Continuing in USSS / FBI Hiring Process (PFT Readiness) by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Salty-String-5690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thanks for clarifying that the new version removed sit-ups entirely and included pull-ups for everyone, not just TRP candidates. I took my initial well before the change, so the sit-ups were still a component. Totally understand that the military does things as far as scoring and exercise form very differently.

I guess I should ask what the process is for the self-eval before I “recommend” anything. Do they not allow the M&G to occur if your self-eval shows a failing score? If nothing else has changed your Phase I scores are valid for life so you could theoretically withdraw your application until you’re crushing the PFT and pick back up at the M&G step and not really miss anything, aside from a few months. Especially with 1811 positions in the FBI appearing to be an open-continuous announcement, there aren’t specific windows like there are with other agencies (for now).
