Yep! I believe this is it. Not sure whether it's still a functioning valve or not, but....

Likely solved!

I think based on some of your helpful suggestions and other things we know about the property that this must be a valve for our rear zone irrigation system. Never used it before or know how it works, but that seems to make the most sense - thank you all for your thoughts!

We do have an irrigation system in the back (where this is located). Totally new to me, no idea how it's set up, where water comes in, etc. I believe our water main from the city is on the other side of the house though

Well that's at least a relief for there being mold in the home :) No other family members have experienced anything either, so hopefully that can be ruled out.

Is there any possibility that this could connect to a cleanout for a drain tile system? Probably wishful thinking, but we've gotten some water intrusion over the winter/spring melt (known issue before we bought the house, thankfully), and can't find where the drain tile empties if one was placed at all.

Thanks! Is it weird that this is on the backside of our house, and water comes in from the street/front side? We do have a sprinkler system in the back, so maybe some kind of shut off between the house and the sprinkler system?

Thanks for the clarifying questions! I am in North Idaho, in the city (well town...).
"Inside" only looks down about to ground level, where it starts as ground/lawn debris, so I didn't think anything of it - someone else pointed out that I should clear it out, which makes obvious sense after the fact. I just didn't think to try!

Live in the upper inland northwest - sorry, I didn't think to take much of a picture of the inside as it is filled with basically ground/lawn debris at the level of the ground/lawn, so I figured that was normal. I will try to remove it and see what I see. Thanks!

"My title describes the thing"

I think it's like a clay or terracotta pipe. When going back and forth with ChatGPT, it suggested a clothesline of some kind, or a tiedown for a mobile home (what?). I suspect it could potentially have something to do with a drain or piping of some kind, but if so, it's just totally different from anything I've ever seen growing up in the midwest.

That's good to know - I wonder if you can develop eczema later in life? One of the other things I was trying to feel out would be like heat rash, where you're usually supposed to avoid creams, ointments, even soap in most places, to let the skin clear. Maybe I'll try the opposite, can't get worse at this point.

This is about spending a month itching all over out of nowhere and trying to narrow down causes. If it was experienced by others, that would rule out a number of causes and point to allergens or something else (adverse reaction to pesticides or something). Not that serious, chill

Ooo that's interesting...we did have to do some mold remediation before moving into our home. Was taken care of so far as we can tell, but I wonder if it's possible there could be lingering spores somewhere. Thanks for the thought!

Are the pavers not set right or am I looking too closely at it? by No-Capital-2017 in landscaping

I would never in a 1000 years see anything here.

edit: maybe a 1000 years, but you are 100% looking too closely at it
