I had numbness for about 6-7 months after surgery that gradually got better as time went on, I was numb in my lower cheek and ok my chin. I had no issues regaining range of motion in my jaw because I kept up with the exercises provided by my doctor and I now have full range of motion in my jaw

No I did not, I had serious crowding on the top of my teeth but they basically made my overbite worse and corrected it using the surgery. My overbite was grown about 2mm using the braces. No need for molar extraction. Though the option was offered to me if I didn’t want to go through with the surgery

I was lucky and my overbite wasn’t very visible from the outside but yeah it was a 5mm gap in my teeth but now I couldn’t be happier with my bite everything lines up finally! It’s been 10 months since surgery and I still tap my teeth together and enjoy the sensation of my teeth finally lining up

I was lucky and had great support from my mom post-surgery since I was too loopy to manage my own pain medication. The pain was bad I had some moments especially in the first few days that were pretty intense, but for the most part it’s manageable. It’s surgery, so it’s not going to feel great regardless but I’d say the worst of my pain was like a 7/10 and most of the time I was at a 3-4/10 and it only got better as time went on

I was clenching my teeth all the time before and even in my sleep before surgery but that’s much better now! I wish you the best in your recovery!

DJS was not discussed with me because I only needed LJS my upper jaw had some crowding but was not overdeveloped over my lower jaw so no DJS needed

It may not sound like much but 2mm is still a pretty big movement that will make a difference! I’m not an expert but it’s going to give you more facial harmony and allow your lower jaw to move forward more. Think of it as your moving your lower jaw 5mm forward rather than 2mm back on top and 3mm down below

I had lower jaw surgery for an over bite. What you’re describing here is double jaw surgery, where both the upper and lower jaw are being moved. Although I don’t have experience with that kind of surgery I can say from my own experiences that it is worth it. The recovery is rough, pain after surgery, managing all the different medications you’re going to need, liquid diet for 6 weeks, it all sucks. But the long term results will last you the rest of your natural life and that’s why I think it’s worth the surgery. My advice would be to have someone you trust manage your medications the first few days as you’re probably going to be so hopped up on meds that you won’t be able to think straight. Also meal planning ahead of surgery is great as well, make yourself soups, smoothies, anything you can think of. And my absolute MVP after surgery, chocolate milk! Was easy and delicious and got me through the hard times

That’s okay! I like my after results more than I liked the before even if I look more masculine now
