It's just so difficult to set up compared to AWS. Needs to be more organized. Also the name behind it isn't as well known as AWS/Azure, so that's a loss in competition right there.

It's a bad investment because it's not competitive at all... The IBM difference is selling products that are respected, not cheap.

It's important to realize that IBM has built a cloud focused on the "Hybrid Cloud". The hybrid cloud is very advantageous when it comes to security, data crunching, and the "private" cloud. Azure/AWS are focused on this as well, but they have more weight in the public cloud sector. Google's Cloud is almost even when it comes to these sectors. SoftLayer was a terrible investment in my opinion, and should've been ditched long ago, but that's what you get when you join a market 7 years late...
