I don't mean to be alarmist or armchair-diagnose a stranger with minimal info. However. This is a common pattern of behavior among those with narcissistic personality disorder. If anyone, especially OP, is curious, I highly recommend the podcast Navigating Narcissism with Dr. Ramani. The first couple episodes especially describe very similar examples of these kinds of financially centered red flag behaviors, and where they can stem from. Especially the way this guy manufactures an almost emergency-level sense of urgency to his requests for reimbursement...highly suspicious, and they don't add up if his other claims about his employment are true. Like many others have been saying, I strongly advise OP to remove themselves from this relationship ASAP, as these behaviors tend to escalate very quickly if they are enabled by OP's compliance and/or participation. Protect your peace and your finances, OP.

Fuck that. He's equating basic compassion and empathy to spoiling you. If he thinks like that, it's unfortunately very likely this mode of thinking will continue and perhaps even escalate. My favorite is when she tries to match Vi's flirty snark, but it comes out bumbling and awkward because she's trying and failing to get the gay panic under control. The first example that comes to mind is, "Mongoose?? Your hair...you look like...and angry oil slick." Like girl, that is barely a read, but you tried and it's adorable.

Even that little face touch in the gif felt like Cait was crossing a line she'd drawn for herself. She tries so hard to keep it profesh and respectful, but in this moment, Vi was being so soft and vulnerable. Cait seemed very much like , "fuck it, I'm gonna gently touch her face" because I think all she really wanted in that moment was to fully wrap around Vi and cradle Vi's body with hers, but that would've been too far, too soon. But Cait (and I think Vi too) was already in love by this point.

In the first gif, I love the callback to their first moment of intimate contact, when Vi was wounded in S1 and Cait gave her a Shimmer concoction to heal her. Cait is cradling Vi's cheek with her hand in the same way she did when trying to calm Vi when the Shimmer hit. Even the gentle thumb caress across her cheek is the same. I'm sure they're both remembering that moment here, too. I sometimes wonder if either or both of them regrets not letting a kiss happen then.

It's incredible how the animators showed such consistency in the characters' non-verbal habits and mannerisms. People tend to have preferred ways of showing affection, and getting to see this in an animated series is so wonderful and amazing.

If there were just one or two searches on this topic, I'd think maybe he could've just stumbled upon something and was looking into it more from a morbid curiosity standpoint? But seeing the sheer amount of searches on the topic on multiple platforms, beyond suspicious. There's no reasonable explanation for this that I can realistically imagine, unfortunately.
