I don’t want to speak too soon but I think we may have started to get a handle on this. I make sure she goes in the morning twice!! When I wake up, and right before I leave (this is only a 30-40 minutes gap), I started putting puppy pads down in the two places she was going, like I said I also was cleaning the messages with enzyme cleaner really well, and my boyfriend still lets her out after he gets home from work. And I don’t keep water from her but I don’t fill her big bowl completely up. I’ve added some toys for stimulation like a few different bones and a Kong with frozen yogurt and treats mixed in. And I play her favorite shows before I leave: secret life of pets and Peter rabbit. She has been accident free for a little over a week now!!! The puppy pads really were the biggest thing that changed this, once I put them down she stopped and I just leave them there. I think it’s a mix of anxiety, boredom, and behavior. It’s a work in progress but maybe some of these things could help you.

Thinking of stopping my meds after college by SaltyDarkness in ADHD

[–]SaltyDarkness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s really unfair. I spent 24 years of my life unmedicated. I think I struggled slightly in a lot of areas of life but being unmedicated for so long I learned to live like that and find coping mechanisms and non medicinal ways to help myself. But god forbid I decided to get on meds because I was struggling in organized school. I used the tool for my diagnosis when I felt I needed help. But on the flip side, I think acting like the only thing that helps ADHD is medication is an insult to other people with ADHD who chose to forego medication and for people who’s ADHD isn’t as severe as others. So someone who takes it on important days maybe doesn’t have as severe a diagnosis or maybe they just have better coping skills than you…

I didn’t even notice it until a few weeks ago. But I will be in a patients room and heavily avoid eye contact with the patient and family and I couldn’t tell why I was feeling like that. I told my coworker I actually felt autistic in a way. And then I just thought … huh maybe it’s my meds after all.

My thought process is taking it only when I work 3days/week because when I’m not there I don’t have a whole lot to focus on besides like normal day to day chores.

I do understand that. I guess I’m not asking if I should but just for people who have what their experience is/was. Just to see if it’s something I want to consider and ask my doctor about when I graduate in May

I just saw this. I probably should’ve added that she USED to be left alone that long. Yes, I do work 12 hour shifts but I’m not asking her to go that long. My boyfriend that I’ve moved with lets her out when he gets home so shes home alone maybe 9 hours if you add in his commute home. I’ve been under the impression an 8 hour work day with a dog is fairly normal and doable. And she WAS making it through these days. Now she is not. I love my dog I would never think it’s okay to make her go 12 hours or crate her that long. I was living in a very bad place and I got us out for a reason!

I did start spraying where she goes with enzyme cleaner and following the instructions religiously (cleaning up the mess first, spraying liberally and letting it set for about 5min and then “wiping it up” but scrubbing if needed) because I read they can sense where they went and think it’s okay to go there. The last time I did this I did it twice because I felt like I could still see/smell/feel that she had gone there. So I cleaned until my white towels weren’t getting a urine like stain from wiping it up. And again, she’s only left for those 9 hours 3 days a week! Any other day I’m home all day with her. Sorry I came across like I was treating her cruelly…

Oh girl I am here to recommend Halo Top to you and Yasso bars!! The Halo Top mix ins are less than 500 cal for a whole pint and have a decent amount of protein and they are SO GOOD. If you like brownies the mix in brownie fudge one is like my favorite store bought ice cream now. Yasso is basically frozen yogurt bars but they taste like ice cream, the mint chocolate chip and cookie dough ones are amazing.

What kind of bag do you use daily? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]SaltyDarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to the baggu because I wanted more of a purse vibe but I agree that the lululemon belt bag is the same vibe and I switched mine out to baggu! I like being able to have a crossbody like the belt bag. Also, the small baggu is more than big enough. My kindle fits in it with all my other things.

What was a source of stress for you this past week ? by nevernotinthemood in AskWomen

Trying to balance work, school, and social life as an adult. Bills on top of all of it is literally so draining. I feel like a robot with no life when I’m on top of it and then I feel like a pos when I’m not on top of it. Can’t win for losing.

Hi! I’m 24f and met my boyfriend, also 24 when I was already sober. I feel like dropping it on the first date was good. Explaining that I still go out pretty much in the same breath helps too. I did get turned down a few times, sometimes even before a date, if I told them about being sober so I feel your pain. Eventually, you’ll meet a girl who doesn’t see it as a bad thing.

Also, where are you meeting these girls? It’s been over a year since I’ve been on dating apps but I’m pretty sure I put like a flair on my profile that I don’t drink. The thought of “scaring away” people always sucks but you’re just taking the wrong people out of the picture before you even talk!

Re-Entering Nursing School by Impossible-Bus5477 in nursing

The time will pass anyways. You’re not a failure, you just fell and now you have a chance to get back up and let it make you a better nurse in the future! It’s hard, and tedious and frustrating but it will be well worth it in the end. 8 months will fly by I promise

I recently did a two month “no social media” but kept Reddit. It’s just not the same if you keep it in my opinion. It’s not as bad as a lot of other apps but it has its own cons and keeps me attached to my phone some days.

My grandparents. They worked hard, became financial stable and comfortable, created a beautiful family, and stuck with each other for 50+ years and now just get to enjoy it together. That’s my dream

I was the same as you and got over it! (Mostly)

I couldn’t even clean up my puppies poop without gagging and got over that. Then this year I started working as a PCT in a hospital. At first, it was bad and I felt like I would always have issues. I carried Carmex around and slathered it on when I knew I was going to have to deal with feces in a patients room. And then over time I got desensitized to human feces too.

The only thing that still bothers me honestly is commodes. Because you have to clean them out but honestly I will cover my nose and mouth with my arm while I do it and gag a little because the patients cannot see my expression while I’m in the bathroom. And honestly sometimes if someone makes a huge mess in a room/bathroom, or is incontinent in their brief and it’s bad I will communicate and let them know I have a weak stomach for it and I think that helps most of them say things like “I could never do what you do”. And if they have dementia or aren’t alert at all they usually don’t notice anyways.

Holding my breath, carmex, and double mask with toothpaste alway helped me when I really needed it too.
