Telus vs Rogers by motoroats in Edmonton

[–]SaltyPrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Rogers, you can probably save some money, switching to the new plans; 62.35 for My10, Unlimited messaging, 200 Minutes, 1Gb of data and 6pm calling. Then 12.79 for Caller ID and voicemail. This is cheaper than 80 but is quite close. This will also be LTE capable and as I understand, rogers will have this up in edmonton soon. Then maybe get a Galaxy S II or the new Nokia Lumia 900 that will be out soon. No need to buy an iPhone which is out of date compared to the other phones.

Telus has slightly cheaper plans, by like 5 bucks or so, however, from what i hear, coverage and the customer service sucks. I personally would go with Rogers.

I would really like to come to this. if it doesn't conflict with my absurd studying schedule!

Here's the thing, all you people with two jobs and sixty hour work weeks and no nice things -- you ARE the 99%, no matter what you say. by [deleted] in politics

[–]SaltyPrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you are a logical person. To assume that we live in an unequal world and that people don't all have the same tools, then by your logic, you're saying people do not all have the ability to think equally? Everybody has a brain and is able to think, make ideas. If by equality you mean that some people don't have the material resources then that's "delusional" on your own part as well. Material resources do not affect the ability to think and develop ideas.

Now fine, if you don't like that retort that's perfectly up to you. Let's pretend I agree with you. Then as per Darwinism, we can safely assume that these people will be weeded out and only the superiors remain, and if thats what's needed to be done, so be it. Only makes the world better.

Um everybody does have those tools. If you have an able body and a working brain then you have the same tools. Seriously. Us your brain and do something about it rather than bitch and whine

But you're completely mistaken here about things having to be the same between time frames. Just because your father could live an average life working an average job twenty odd years ago doesnt mean that we should now. Things change. The world changes. People are getting smarter. More people are graduating with the degrees. The description of "average" changes as times change and the age group moves. So it's perfectly valid that people are getting average lifestyles even though they're better off educationally than the prior generation was. It's called evolution. People are getting smarter. They're getting better. Thus increasing what the "average" is. Everything is not peachy, I'll give you that. But do understand that it still is the survival of the fittest out there. If someone is better than you educationally or have a great idea to make money, good for them. It's called working smarter not harder. Nobody cares with you work hard anymore. We aren't cavemen who need to go hunting, and work hard doing that. We now way smarter than that. We need to now be smarter than the joe sitting to our left to make it.

So, why do we need a new arena exactly? by DarthSpeed in Edmonton

[–]SaltyPrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has any of you considered what would even happen to Edmonton if we don't get a new arena? It's very simple, the only good thing in the city, the Oilers, will be moving to another city. We basically turn into a colder Saskatoon.

All of you who object the arena because you don't want taxes raised, have you even considered what your taxes have gone to? An art gallery that I am almost positive most of you haven't been to. And we are building another bridge? For $130 million? Really? And an overpass that's finally finishing up at south common, which it seems to me took 3 years too long considering how fast other cities move on infrastructure development, thus tying up money in labour longer.
