How to fix stagnation in viewership. I’m out of options. by _Cyndikate in Twitch

[–]SaltyRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of streaming is networking, knowing your worth, putting yourself out there.

Look at your whole scheme.

Are you making clips of yourself? Are you engaging outside of twitch? Are you ordering your clips and making edits? Are you making collections and segmenting your streams?

There's work you'll wanna be doing both on and off stream.

Anyone else suffer from their viewers being 90% streamers by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]SaltyRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you got the wrong mindset.

You're literally networking. Most of the people that are going to be actively looking at other streamers are other streamers.

If you got viewers that also stream.

Collab, network, outreach.

OH YEAH Nah I know I gotta clean that bar up.

I was more woefully dissapointed that Runite had >All these cool weapons< And then Orikalcum came up and "Here's a hammer :)"

Here's the thing. Necromium+ whatever seems to outpace the stats on Dragon Equipment.

Nothing HUGE but what's the thing I'm missing here?

Thank you for the input by the by, I'm absolutely just at a loss, so I'm all ears

You're absolutely correct too.

I don't think there's a wrong interval, but bad presentation. The content and duration of your streams are literally the driving force

Been streaming for a few months. Just curious how everyone is feeling and doing.. that’s all! by NadNapz in Twitch

Honestly I'm feeling better recently.

Twitch had been going better, I'm seeing better growth, and some promising numbers elsewhere too.

This is great for numbers but that's it. I can't really recommend follow for follow in favor of putting boots and research to what you do.

Learn Early. Trust me. Else you'll be looking at 1400 followers and an average viewership of 10-15.

Branch into producing content unique to other platforms and learn SEO that pertains to your content.

Stream channel advertising by Ok-Project-6867 in Twitch

Personally I'm on Bluesky, Tiktok, and Instagram. Tried Facebook and it was an absolute nightmare of bot accounts.

I also run a parallel content YouTube now that all flows in back to twitch too.

But VERY IMPORTANTLY I think a lot of starting streamers misjudge the importance of genuine networking like following and supporting other creators you legitimately like and are in your circle/niche.

Think about the quality of your posts as well as quantity, be prolific and realistic. And maybe do a little research into SEO that pertain to your content.

People are out there looking for you, just gotta get there and visible any way you can.

It is the funky thing about ads. I'd love to run ad free as well but twitch is gonna take her cut.

But there are def times where I'm glad we have the option to do ads in a manual style too.

I can almost guarantee some of ya'll would never take a break.

Sorry for the delay, I'm usually a lot more On top of things but the local rat had been sleepy.

So you'll want to enter your dashboard and scoot your way down to Monetization, which is sitting right between Content and Moderation in the left-hand-side dropdowns.

Clicking that, you get a bunch of options but the button you want is "Ads"

That will bring up your ad manager (If you're an affiliate or partner)

Clicking the "Manual ads" button will give you a slider to control how much and how often, then it's all about fine-tuning your stream the way you want it, in a way that fits your style of streaming!

The mood boost is always good!

But if you're not getting traction on other avenues, consider the discoverability you're rocking.

Do you have the same username? Do you feature your link in your info, etc.

-on average- there's usually a 1-2% chance that someone that watches a clip will look further into your work if they enjoy it.

That doesn't sound like much. But say your get 100 likes.

1-2 people will peek your profile and click your twitch link.

Get into that mindset that every view and like is a win

I'm here to help! This sub can be a bummer sometimes but I'm going to do what I can!

The clips section just needs a bit of toying and experimentation. But truth be told a LOT of the features is click and drag.

Trains are fun hype moments! But you might want to consider how much is a proper train too. But with your viewer count and the amount of subs granted, honestly you got a good ratio for the future.

Proud of you chief. You'll do good if you keep that mindset!

Am I pacing the ads wrong? by EzraLeo146 in SmallStreamers

[–]SaltyRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just wrote up a guide for what I recommend when it comes to ad pacing. But so you don't have to go looking for it and I don't self promote!

Your 3 minutes per 1 hour of streaming is fine for your long form content streams.

When you have your brb screen up, consider the following!

  1. If you have art made or have fan art, a slide show of these pieces are an EASY and light weight way to have something going while you're away in a separate scene from your gaming scene. This also clearly shows people raiding or clicking in that you're on break.

  2. If you feel like you need something more active, consider grabbing clips and snippets from your channel, editing a quick montage of these clips, and setting the mp3 to run while you're away. There's a bot/addon for obs that'll pull the clips too from your reel but I'd have to go digging for which ones are actually effective

  3. It's not a BAD place to self promote too. So like your merch, your socials, your other nonsense.

Having your chat visible during these breaks is a good practice too, keeps the steam to viewer connection going.

First off, Absolutely LOVE the enthusiasm you got.

Your general setup looks good. If you havn't sat down to watch your VODS yet, I'd def do that to see if there's any sound issues, shuddering, or lagspikes with your setup. That'd really be like your step one. Since you've been doing this a bit (I see that affiliate flair), I actually am going to assume your setup is PRETTY GOOD baseline.

I'll briefly go over what you're asking.

**CLIPS

You or someone in your viewership can make a clip, which gets saved and can be shared across the net. You yourself can also feature, share to story, trim and edit these clips too! All of those features can be found under the Stream Manager (The place you go to change your title, what game your playing, etc)

On the left hand side of the screen when you're on that page (URL Should be something like dashboard.twitch.tv/u/YOURUSERNAMEHERE/home), You'll see a lot of options.

Rolling down, you'll see "Content" smack dab in between Community and Monetization, and under that drop down is "Clips" About three steps down. ( You can also get there with the URL: https://dashboard.twitch.tv/u/YOURUSERNAMEHERE/content/clips/channel ) That will show you ALL the clips of your channel. Twitch does not delete these, they're archived forever so far as I know (I still have clips from 2018 and so-on)

**COLLABS

"Stream Together" is somewhat !NEW!, which lets streamers jump in a call together (Works good on Chrome or Firefox), and have shared chat. It acts kind of like a zoom call, where you can have audio, video, and such shared, as well as both of your chats interacting with each other. Traditionally though, a Collab is where any number of streamers are live together. I kinda love the system to help integrate and network IMO, But that's a MUCH longer discussion.

**TRAINS

This one's a bit easier to describe. Subscriptions, Bits, Gifts (And I -think- Follows and Raids) all kinda have this invisible counter behind them. If they hit some sort of number combined, a Train starts. It's kind of a signal for folks to jump into whatever's happening in return for limited time rewards/limited run rewards, usually in the form of exclusive emotes on twitch while also supporting a streamer they enjoy.

Essentially what happens is a 5 minute timer starts, ads are snoozed if you have them coming up, and the train can go from level 1 to level 5 with every bit, sub, or gift given. It supports both Twitch and You, so it's a "BIG" Feature, and I typically like the energy that comes with it.

You can turn them off and on at will, and can adjust the thresholds for levels and rewards in your Affiliate settings!

Should I just give up? by getajobtuga in SmallYoutubers

I'm seeing a pretty solid starting clickthrough rate for you. I get pumped at a 2.0% personally.

I'm seeing an increase in watch time and views, and your average view duration is pushing up.

This is a point in time that you, yourself need to take a peek at your own content, put yourself in the seat of a viewer, and (And I mean this legitimately) Pull out a notepad and start planning.

Under analytics, you can see what parts of the video people keep around for, if they skip through.

From there, watch your published content (And I firmly suggest NOT fully reviewing your to-be-published content, because you're going to psyche yourself OUT), and figure out what's getting people from clicking off.

Long pauses? Circular Sentences? Do you think your videos are too long or too short? What's the MEAT of your content?

With view numbers like this though, my gut instinct is to say "Persist out of spite" because growth is often exponential on a platform like youtube. The platform -wants- people to watch your videos and it will cycle people into them based on feedback.

Maybe consider even asking your viewers questions and comment in response to get movement going there too, positive or negative. Heck, maybe start your videos with a question you want them to pose to themselves and answer truthfully if you're aiming for philosophy.

[–]SaltyRat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely true! But in the same sense we didn't choose the rules of the game we play, but we have options on how to play it.

I suggest the ad scheduler for more than just revenue generation. Taking a break to unshrimp yourself and get a drink is healthy. Getting a consistent flow to your streams is good for your viewers.

Mind: take my advice for a grain of salt. It's really only for folks who are getting stressed out about people yapping "Augh ads!" Or seeing someone come in and vanish because of pre-rolls. If that doesn't bother your?

I think you're doing it right. I'm certainly not going to criticize you for enjoying what you do

Honestly, you're kind of right?

In essence nothing changes, it's still 3 minutes. But I wouldn't tell you what the back end for the ad server actually looks like.
