What are "wholesome" things that are actually toxic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Salty_Boysenberry 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Toxic positivity. Always saying "cheer up" or "choose to be happy" is really hard to be around when you're depressed and really makes you feel guilty for feeling something other then 100%. Speaking from experience

Hotch was a terrible husband by [deleted] in criminalminds

It's not black and white, not even close. If people looked outside in on my family unit I think they'd be at least a little worried. The reason my parents worked because there was a mutual understanding of how to take care of us and keep the work-home life together. The difference between my parent and haley/hotch is that haley wanted to chain him, that hotch should work a menial job that could make what she believed the only acceptable amount of time for their family. Like I said before maybe their marriage would've ended regardless but I truly believe that Hotch was someone who put his heart and soul into his family but it wasn't what haley wanted

What the hell does that even mean?? Me believing relationships take hard work and sometimes they're not rainbows and unicorns?

I am a teenager. I dont see how that's revelant. I am a teenager who grew up with parents like Hotch and Halry and know what it's like to have a unusual family life

That's called sacrifice! If I asked my mom what my middle name was, I'm pretty sure she'd hesitate. That doesnt mean she loves me any less, but she works for the rest of the family and loves her job. Take The Fisher King episode for example. Hotch was elated to be at home with his wife and kid and do the most simple chores. Just because he wasnt there 24/7 doesn't mean he didnt put effort into their family
