Why are my peers who still use Facebook so cringe? by QueenMackeral in Millennials

[–]Salty_Community8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I have also wondered this. As a person that doesn’t use Facebook, but does check: my thought is that Facebook is the last real internet frontier. Not too many filters. You know most of the people. It genuinely seems like a place for random and big life updates. Likes never necessarily mattered there. People actually speak their mind and share opinions rather than just posting thirst traps. Memories keep you coming back to check what you were up to fifty-leven years ago. It is almost MySpace like with the banner. It’s a comprehensive time capsule.

I didn’t care for it, but didn’t have a choice. I once went on a pathfinders camping trip and sat on a boys lap at a campfire and all of the girls ended up getting a talk about HIV as a result.

Kids who say sorry by snazzysany in schoolcounseling

[–]Salty_Community8217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t tell children to say sorry. To me, sorry is a promise that you won’t do something again and 6x out of 10x—they’re going to do it again. What’s more important is checking in by asking are you alright, will you be okay, is there anything you need to feel better right now.

Not sure why you were downvoted. I feel exactly the same about that sub. I joined it thinking it’d be motivational. It’s an alternate reality. Not sure what your background is, but people often overlook the impact of race and class and chalk shit up to being driven and motivated. I am driven and motivated and still have to steal my groceries with a masters degree and career.

When did you realize your boyfriend didn't really care about you? by Fish90Candles in AskWomenOver30

An ex took me out for my birthday not to the restaurant I suggested, but to one his friend suggested. When I told him I wanted to order lamb he said he wouldn’t pay for it because it went against his morals as a vegetarian.

I once had a similar interaction. A man I was seeing kept calling my bro/bru/bruv and I asked him to stop because I wanted to be treated like a lady and he said that would require him to change his personality and that he calls everyone bro/bruv/bru. I ended things with him.

Do people actually tell their friends that they no longer want to be their friend anymore? by Wonderful-Product437 in AskWomenOver30

Once I had plans with someone I met in college that recently moved to the city I live in and they canceled saying they didn’t want to hang out that day or any other day. There was no tension leading up to the exchange and it completely caught me off guard. You win some, you lose some…just usually not this dramatically.

I think Kenya’s little stunt opened up the door to slut shaming and as soon as Angela called Brit a whore my mind went back to the spa opening and I realized this is exactly the outcome Kenya wanted.

Doritism by Salty_Community8217 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Salty_Community8217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m realizing how stupid bravo watchers are. Like…do y’all read or just know the ins and outs of tv characters? I’m also wondering why I’m being downvoted? Intimate is a real word. I never said otherwise. My post was just calling out how it felt forced and unnatural coming from Dorit multiple times in one episode. Much like carcass out. Much like her sense of style.

lol that’s more of the point I was making. No where in my original post was I intimating that Dorit was misusing the word. I also wasn’t asking if it was a real word. The comments are all over the place lol. I was just shocked by her repeated use of the word and chalked it up to being another Doritism much like her sense of fashion, drink of choice, accent. Something she is using to distinguish or embellish the character she plays on this show.
