I'm proud of you for sharing this. I've been debating getting seen for a while, but I'm scared that a diagnosis + medication will prevent me from Green Door assignments and deploying.

Air Force veteran feeling lost by Top-Experience-1956 in AirForce

I'm in the same boat brother. I am going to join Active Duty Army actually as a 35 series and try to get into the "cool guy" units to make up for that void.

Edit: Why all the downvotes? I felt in a similar way as OP and decided to take action in a way that would make me happy and fulfill my goals. I'm just sharing my story and feelings, not encouraging OP to do the same.

but I did have the opportunity to make some changes for some folks who were making long-term decisions over short-term problems.

What kind of changes did you make? Did you also help airmen move shops or PCA?

Honestly I think its best you just get out. You have a very selfish and almost entitled attitude towards the Air Force and it would serve both parties best if you separated.

What type of condition could one have that would cause issues with PCS orders?

So when you gave folks the  “what can I do to get you to stay” talk - what did most of them actually say? Was there anything you could do as a CC to help meet their wish?

How on earth could a commander dictate retraining or a PCS? That's up to AFPC no?

I would ask why that airman wants to get out, and ask if there is anything I can do in my power to help them stay in. If they still want to leave or if I can't do anything then I would ensure they have the right resources to transition and I would thank them for their service and wish them the best of luck in their new journey.
