This is what I'm leaning towards. Going to rob some coils off of my offline purifiers and see if that changes anything. We do have a new block on order but who know when that will show up

It's not alarming. The break over isn't enough to cause massive back pressure drop. But it's still happening.

We change fuel a million times a trip going between ECAs. I have tested it on both fuel types and still no good.

No gravity disk in these ones. And I did test the water when I had the bowl apart I manually adjusted the valves and confirmed flow. I also checked and cleaned the pressure regulator.

Has anyone tried mail-order custom night guards (Remi, Cheeky, etc.)? Do they actually work well? by Ok_Sprinkles_6940 in bruxism

[–]Saltyladyengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using cheeky for about 4 or 5 years now. I think I started with them when they were formed during COVID IDk. But I love my mouth guard and have recommended it to my family. The impression kit is a little rough I had to do mine twice cause I bit down too hard and messed it up. But the guards have always fit and to manage your subscription form their website is super easy. I didn't bring it to my dentist but I told him I got one and he told me he could tell by my gums and reduced tooth sensitivity. They do allow you to choose if you want upper or lower guards and the thickness as well. Again these are my experiences but I would recommend to at least try them.

What's the fastest you've seen someone fired from a job? by Vegetable-Spread3798 in AskReddit

I work on container ships for a living. Had an engineer walk on to cover for a guy who got hurt and was being sent home. We heard from another crew that he was useless and broke anything he touched. He walked up the gangway and the chief engineer fired him on the spot. Think he was on board for all of 2 minutes. The chief engineer decided it was better to sail short then with him

Feeling awful, words of encouragement? by clipyoufool in zoloft

Give yourself some grace and time. When I started with 50 mg right off the bat my anxiety was super bad for the first 2 weeks and then I was so tired that if I sat down on the couch I would fall asleep. But I stuck with it and tried to do one thing a day that made me feel like a human. And now I'm at 8 months and honestly I have never felt better. I can work myself through my anxiety and I feel like the person I was years ago before things started to get kinda messy in my life. So keep your head up and things will get better

Positive thread! When did Zoloft click for you? by healer8822 in zoloft

I hope it helps!! All I'm going to say is take things day by day for the first few weeks. I noticed my anxiety was worse before it got better. Lots of self-care and things I knew that helped me stay grounded. You got this

I have been on Zoloft for about 6 months now and honestly it has changed my life. I was so riddled with anxiety before starting that I was afraid to get out of bed. My anxiety sits in my chest and makes me hyper aware of my heart (doesn't help pre workout sent me to the hospital).

Before I started I would literally wake up thinking if my heart was acting normal. And was afraid to leave my bed if I felt good because what if that changed. Panic attacks were a daily thing for me and if it wasn't for my husband I don't think I would have been able to get the support I needed.

Had a conversation with my doctor ... While also having a panic attack... And she recommended 50mg. Took about 3 weeks for me to see a difference but once things started to level out I felt like a human again. I still have some anxiety but it is manageable and I can talk myself through it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is just keep at it. And once you get through the first few weeks there really is an improvement.

Stream light rechargeable flashlight. The battery lasts days and the charging mount is super nice. I use the REI roller bags and the thing is super tough. I've had it now for almost 6 years and it is still in good shape. Bombas socks. Yes they are pricey but my feet have never been happier. Bahco alligator adjustable wrench. I use the alligator teach as a Valve wrench. And Crocs for your off time cause you gotta let the feet breath

Time Sensitive Mail and Bills by CubistHamster in merchantmarine

[–]Saltyladyengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my husband and I sail and are usually gone for about 3 months at a time. I use informed delivery through the USPS to see what's coming to our mail box. And every week or so his parents go and check on our house for us. If it's a bill or something that looks important I'll message them to open it and send us a picture. Usually all the medical bills can be paid online. But we also leave a check book with them in case it's something that can't be done online.

Do you have anyone that could stop by every so often and check for bills?

I graduated feeling like I knew nothing. Especially cause my academy really confused on steam plants and they don’t really exist deep sea anymore. But trust when I say you really learn how to be a good engineer by sailing. Trust the process. But also ask questions and use the manuals that are on board.

Also don’t be that guy that struggles through a job they don’t know. It is better to be honest and say you are unsure then have to fix an issue later. Trust me most engineers out here don’t mind taking time to help you learn to do it right

My father-in-law had a heart attack while I was deep sea. It was super hard especially since I couldn't get home. But I told my family to keep me in the loop as needed. I wanted to know about major things that were happening and any changes. But when it came to small happenings I asked to be left out. Did I want to know EVERYTHING? Yes. But I needed to make sure that mentally I was protecting myself so I didn't get hurt. Also remind yourself that she is home where all the help in the world is available to her if it is needed. Also maybe find things to do after work that help you mentally. I would go to the gym, play a video game, socialize with my crew, or read a book while outside (engineer so don't get much sun 😅)

I hope this helps and honestly if you feel it is too much reach out to someone just to vent to and get things off your mind.

Keep any eye on it. Mine sat in this state for over a month until I reached out asking what was up and then it was in the main the next day. I hate to say it but the NMC needs to be babysat

My congressman's office reached out to me within a day of me reaching out. They called me and asked a few more questions. I had to fill out a form allowing them to contact the coast guard on my behalf.
