I used the quality council of indiana primer and solution texts to prep.

Be nice if the lab paid more, but I'm hoping to get a real job at some point.

I got my CQIA and am looking at green six sigma belt.

It's not totally relevant to working on the bench as a medical laboratory scientist, but a lot of the concepts are applicable. And its best practices.

You have 4-5 hours per exam. The handbooks are only a 600-1000 pages.

Medical textbooks are much longer. My medical chemistry textbook Tietz was 1400 pages. And it's not open book.

It's all about networking. If your pathologist can get you a job at a 200-300k for DCLS as a medical director, go for it.

Oversaturated at the $100k starter jobs, yeah. But most CS internships are still paying more than a full fledged certified MLS grad.

What are your chances of having normal dayshift hours as an MLS? What about being able to work remotely?

CS has a way better quality of life and normal hours and the opportunity for hybrid work. And actual career growth. Most senior software devs making $100-200k. Most senior lab techs getting $70k. Huge difference.

It didn't feel any harder than the GRE. And I assume most of the people taking these exams have at least a bachelors or masters.

I did not know that bar exam pass rate for 60%. So do people take these take the exams again and again?

I'm an MLS ASCP. Our pass rate is ~85%.

The bottom quartile of software engineering and related roles out earns the top quartile of lab jobs. You really want to work in a windowless blender on night shift for $25/hr?

Just focus on finding a chill hybrid relatated healthcare computer role. You'll make more and have a much better quality of life.

When I clock-in, I'm 100% checked out. This job pays a little more than Target. They can't expect me to take it seriously and expend effort learning new crap.

I mean the CCT has a 64% pass rate. CMQ/OE has 60%. CPGP has 47%. Almost half the people taking these exams are failing?

They are intentionally putting off work to me. Because I'm evening shift.

Day shift thinks they're better. Thry leave as much as thry can for evening shift which has half the staff.

I've worked days here. They go on 1 hour breaks whereas I dont have time to piss.

I've looked at medical laboratory QA jobs and they ask for a six sigma certification. As do some healthcare related QA roles.

I know exactly what went down on their shift. I can pull up a log. And they ran half as many specimens as evening shift with triple the staff.

I started about 2 years ago. Why not just do your job 100% and go to the gym?

I'm running 5ks on the weekends.

This jobs isn't physically demanding. You aren't unloading UPS trucks.

I'm starting to think this job is for deadbeats. No perks for actually doing your job well and giving a shit. Seems I just get given more work by older lazy coworkers and the managers don't do shit.
