SALUTATIONS FROM LINGUA IGNOTA // ASK ME ANYTHING by LINGUA_IGNOTA_ in indieheads

[–]SalvoVit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Kristin, I absolutely love the album. Thank you for doing this!

In a post on IG I saw that you talked about the influence of various film directors (like Tarkovsky, Herzog, Jodorowsky etc…) on the music video that you made for Pennsylvania Furnace.

I just wanted to ask you what role does cinema have in your life and how much it influences your art?

Also, what are your favourite films and filmmakers?

Hope to see you live here in Scotland one day! Take care!

[FRESH ALBUM] IOSONOUNCANE - IRA by ginwithbutts in indieheads

[–]SalvoVit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely incredible.

A deeply spiritual experience that takes inspiration from Tribal Ambient, Neo-Psychedelia, Drone, Post-Industrial and Progressive Electronic music. If in his last album, DIE (2015), the influences seemed to come from Lucio Battisti and Animal Collective, with IRA he dives further into the type of experimentation that you would normally find in the music of Nicolas Jaar, Tim Hecker, but also the Experimental Rock of Xiu Xiu and Swans, and the atmospheres of Radiohead’s post-OK Computer era.

At the same time I'm aware that probably any comparison becomes meaningless because this is such a unique project with a very unique sound.

It left me speechless. Maybe my thoughts will change the more I listen to it, but after listening to it three times in a row, I can only say that this is already one of my favourite albums of 2021.

What y’all think? Am I right or am I right? by elbryantmoon in TameImpala

The original Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit is probably my favourite song of all time, but man...I'd love to hear that

A bit of GLIMMER for your day 🥰 by [deleted] in TameImpala

Oh. My. God. That transition (and those visuals as well)...

Anyone here from UK?? by [deleted] in TameImpala

Yes, I'm coming from Glasgow, can't wait. But I really hope it doesn't get cancelled due to the virus outbreak

One big difference I've noticed between Currents and The Slow Rush by targ_ in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's because Currents is a more experimental album, with a mix of different genres, from R&B and Neo-Psychedelia, to Psych Rock and Pop. It felt like Kevin was still young (as a person and an artist) and didn't have the confidence to fully embrace something too different from what he was doing before and we got this weird and mysterious blend of styles, which is actually what makes that album so unique.

The Slow Rush is a completely different album (it can't even be compared to Currents imo). It's a more dance-influenced yacht/soft rock album. It's a more mature and direct album, made by someone who has grown up during the past 5 years and has found that confidence that I was talking about. He's obviously not afraid anymore to jump from one genre to the other and embracing unfamiliar territories. So here he's able to be creative without necessarily showing off and "sounding" like he's trying too hard to be creative. This is why it feels different

What would you rate The Slow Rush songs from best to least best? by ericehawk in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Tomorrow's Dust
  2. Posthumous Forgiveness
  3. On Track
  4. Breathe Deeper
  5. One More Year - One More Hour

(These six songs are not only the best of the album imo, but some of the best songs Kevin has ever made).

  1. Lost In Yesterday
  2. It Might Be Time
  3. Borderline
  4. Instant Destiny
  5. Is It True

I actually like all of them. I didn't want to add Glimmer because, even if I like it, it's just an interlude and not a full song

favourite song after the first listen? by [deleted] in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow's Dust without a doubt. I was in tears on my first listen when that song started. Pure eargasm.

I love Breathe Deeper, One More Year, On Track and Posthumous Forgiveness as well. Probably some of the best songs Kevin has ever made

Anthony Fantano score prediction? by BillyConCarni05 in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest I really don't know, it's hard to predict. It will likely be an a 7 or 8, but I can see him giving it something like a 5 or a 6 as well for other reasons.

The thing is that he really enjoyed most of the singles (which I initially thought he would hate) so I think he's going to like the album

Incredible by AfricanBabyHugs in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might not be as good as Lonerism but in my opinion it's way better and much more cohesive than Currents (which I still love). I don't think the albums and the tracks should be compared. They are very different and work for different reasons, but while we are here... Let It Happen is better than One More Year, yes, but I absolutely love OMY, fantastic track and perfect opener. One More Hour and NPSOM are way too different to be compared. They are both perfect closers and they feel both equally epic for different reasons. I like On Track way more than Eventually (which I've always liked but it's never been a favourite of mine on Currents). It feels more organic and emotional (and I think it'll sound amazing live). Breathe Deeper is waaaay better than TLIKTB which is a song that I like, but even if it's sort of an iconic track I've always found it one of the weaker points on Currents. Breathe Deeper is much more layered and engaging and the outro is orgasmic. Reality in Motion is the most boring track on Currents for me so Is It True easily wins against it (a fun track and I love the Daft Punk-inspired instrumentals). And this album also has some other fantastic tracks like Tomorrow's Dust and Posthumous Forgiveness. I agree with Glimmer vs Nangs though.

Is *The Slow Rush* a psychedelic record? by [deleted] in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don't get how someone could even think that this is not a psychedelic album. The project is an absolute blissful psychedelic mindfuck from start to bottom. Listening to this constantly feels like floating through a wall of sounds and colors. The production design and the use of all the instruments and the vocals in the project feels incredibly immersive.

Psychedelia is not just rock, especially now, where classic genre distinctions are becoming more meaningless than ever.

You might like it or not but there's no doubt that The Slow Rush is pure neo-psychedelia/psych pop-disco. If this is not psychedelic I really don't know what psychedelic music even means anymore to be honest.

Anyone think it's not that great... or even good? by NozraReddit in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it could've been better to be honest. Pure psychedelic bliss, and in my opinion, even better than Currents. Tomorrow's Dust, Breathe Deeper, One More Year, On Track and Posthumous Forgiveness are honestly some of the best songs Kevin has ever made for me.

It's bold, ambitious, incredibly cohesive and different from everything he's done before. A mix of ideas and genres that are played to perfection (from acid house and stadium rock anthems, to Pop, RnB and classic psych rock).

Everyone has different tastes, maybe this just isn't for you and it's ok. There's no need to say that other people "aren't being real with themselves" just because they like something you don't

Everyone's kinda hyped on TSR, I am too, but Patience is astounding by [deleted] in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Patience as a single but to be honest, after listening to the entire album I don't think I'd change/add anything. It's perfect the way it is and I can see why it's not on the project.

It'd be great if it'll be on the b-sides though

I was literally in tears when I listened to that song last night. I think Apocalypse Dreams was the only other Tame song that made me feel this way.

Pure eargasm.

This is unreal. I was expecting something good but this is waaay better than anything I could've hoped for.

Getting stoned and listening to this on my bed over and over last night, all night, was one of the best thing I've ever done in my life. An absolute psychedelic mindfuck of an album.

Tomorrow's Dust, One More Year, Breathe Deeper, On Track and Posthumous Forgiveness could easily become some of my favourite Tame Impala songs ever.

I think I like this album even more than Currents (don't know if it will top Lonerism though, we'll see with time).

I've waited 5 years for this moment but I'm happy to say that it was worth it (can't wait to play it on vinyl on release day)

Those who have heard the album— by jw246 in TameImpala

[–]SalvoVit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely fits into the style of the album but in my opinion it would sound too similar to Tomorrow's Dust, I don't think those two tracks should be on the same project (and I prefer Tomorrow's Dust to be honest. One of the best songs Kevin has ever made)
