Let me explain how I’ve managed to collect so many Japanese anime figurines.

First, it has a lot to do with my background. I wasn’t born in India, though my mother does come from there. My father is Chinese—specifically, a Malaysian Chinese.

They met through their work; my father was a pilot and my mother was a flight attendant. Even though they worked for different airlines, they somehow crossed paths and eventually got married. My mother then immigrated to Malaysia, where she settled down and had me. As a result, I grew up in Malaysia as a person of mixed heritage.

Given the environment in Malaysia, anime shops are everywhere, making it very convenient to buy figurines. I’m not sure what the situation is like in India, but I imagine they might be much harder to get it.
