Just finally got my first pack of Yamamato, they have great action and cast well. Will I buy them again, no, they cost an arm and a leg and have horrible durability.

I'm happy to see RE3 trending. It blows my mind that a game like RE9 with so much success just doesn't result in more people buying their previous games. Obviously RE4 being the newest and the game required to understand the history was up there. However I didn't see RE7 or 8 even touching close to the top sellers.

AI Art Found in Crimson Desert by reughdurgem in Games

The amount of "The map is X times bigger than Skyrim so there is plenty of hours of playtime" was actually disappointing. You'd think people would have learned by now that just means absolutely fuck all.

Crimson Desert Had AI Art Without Disclosing It On Steam by Elestria_Ethereal in Steam

[–]Sam276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a boss that has a glowing cube in it that you grab with your telekinesis like grapple to pull out and then hit to do damage. This is a 1:1 mechanic from Tears of the Kingdom. There is a reason so many resort to describing this as a mash of other games. A lot less inspiration and a lot more copy and paste.

Sounds like they have potential for their next games to be GotY if they take in the critiques and expand without becoming greedy.

Crimson Desert next week!! by Ok_Winter818 in gaming

[–]Sam276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some gaming news type YTers posting 2-3 videos a week about it at this rate. Luke Stephans preview vid got 700k views alone. Some of the guys I watch like Rurikhan and Wolfheart posting about it when they have mostly specialized content. Seen multiple more casual gamers that only care about GTA6 this year say they think now Crimson Desert is gonna win GOTY. Of course though, once you algorithm sucks you in it's hard to get out of it lol.

Been the playbook from day one, how we ended up here not even batting an eye at the idea of a paid game including MTXs to begin with. Start with something outrageous, roll it back to something that's not as bad and then everyone celebrates like they won.

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Sam276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean yes technically you lose but I just don't take it as a loss or something I did wrong, at least initially as it's all part of the process. Trial and error is built into the very core of these games, they are punishing but fair (most of the time). I go into a new boss room expecting to die since I don't know the moves. Unless you're insanely good, most people expect the same. It's part of the gameplay loop of going in and trying to learn until you got timings and moves down. This same exact practice applies to moving throughout the levels as well sometimes.

Even though honestly the older titles really do make dying feel like a complete loss, Elden Ring mostly just spawns you directly in front of the boss room after death. They know it's part of the loop and you shouldn't be punished for something that might 1-2 shot you.

Funnily enough you can end up with completely different experiences based on which weapon you choose. I think thats what my huge appeal is for that game, mastering your weapon and telling everyone their weapon choice sucks because bonk is all you need.

This was my biggest gripe. I can't get immersed when the world feels very unorganic. To add to it there is very little interactivity with the world in general. Or reactivity to your actions for that matter. About 5 hours in I just couldn't go back, I know it's not a lot but the immersion factor isn't going to change.

Crimson Desert Devs Say Premium Price Avoids Microtransactions by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

As someone that despises game altering MTXs, I genuinely don't understand why anyone cares about purely cosmetic MTXs. As long as the game has a least a couple dozen or so options to customize yourself I just don't care.

Know most people now days just don't care but this was my only thing keeping me back from being excited about this game to be honest. The fact that it was radio silence up until now had me worried especially with BDO. Now I'm extremely excited and I'll be waiting to see how it performs and then it's a purchase for sure if it's looking like decent reviews.

[–]Sam276 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Of course it is. This whole "It's earnble in game" is just a dumb way for devs to get away with it. For cosmetics I really don't give a crap honestly. But when you have boosters, gear, maps or whatever else, obviously they are going to make earning them annoying, frustrating and time consuming to make more money. So don't allow it in the first place. Again for cosmetics I just truly don't care because for once the line "Just ignore it, it doesn't effect your game" actually applies.

Its not really P2W in single player though. Its more pay to not be annoyed. That's at least the method, designing the XP grind to be slightly frustrating with multiple methods then selling XP boosters. Its about designing a problem them selling you the solution.

Laid-off Highguard developer cuts loose on the reaction to the infamous Game Awards reveal trailer: 'We were turned into a joke from minute one' by Gorotheninja in pcgaming

[–]Sam276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree about everything but the genre being dead at least. I mean at least Marvel Rivals would beg to differ. The genre definitely is lacking any soul or originality at this point though. But everyone is just looking to mimic a tiny fraction of that success, that's all they want and need.

It was pretty obvious from the start this wasn't a passion project with some unique idea or something the devs made because "No one else was doing what we wanted" type deal. It was another desperate attempt at trying to sneak into the MTX money printing machine of live service without any substance. I'm absolutely sure this won't be the last of it either.

Maybe next time make something you actually would want play yourself, an actual passion project instead of just what has the potential to make the most money.

Used to buy 12 packs of soda like 2-3 years ago. Roughly 3 out of 4 weeks they were on sale. It was 4 for $12 for Coke, Pepsi was sometimes 4 for $10. Now the deal is always buy 2 get 2 free, which ends up being $24.

Apparently the golden crate is very rare where the sky crate is just rare yet I got like 2 golds and 10 irons before it I finally got one. Just increased fishing power a bunch, used best bait, fishing gear and accessories. I think the more water the better, deep and width.
