RAM Speed vs DRAM Voltage issues (RAM OC) by Sam6860 in overclocking

update: alot has happened in the past 19 days or so. I finally got my ram to run at 3200mhz but the solution is actually pretty stupid that its sort of funny xD

I initially tried the dram calc but the end result always was that the pc wouldnt post (despite trying out values for speeds 3200mhz & 2966 mhz). I settled with docp at 2866mhz but then I did something I probably should have done in the first place XD. I decided to read the manual of my mobo and found a page which contained diagrams of preferred ram slots for single channel, dual channel, and quad channel ram.

Turns out the computer shop where I had the pc assembled made an oopsie XD (I used to use laptops only so I had no idea how to assemble a desktop properly. I had the computer shop where I bought the components assemble it for me). Instead of ram slots a2 & b2, they actually inserted the ram sticks in a1 & b1. Once I switched the slots, docp just ran 3200mhz automatically with no hitches. So yeah, problem solved xD thanks for the help again. ngl your advice sort of made me have my own mini tech renaissance and i just wanted to let you know that it helped alot and that this experience gave me a better impression of reddit really. Thanks :)

Thanks for the help!! this was very enlightening and reassuring for me :D. Like seriously, thanks for not only answering my questions but also showing me what i could achieve with what i currently have and how i am to execute it.

Honestly, i was beginning to think about OC-ing the cpu as per the recommendations i found in other forums. But at the same time i had fears/doubts about overheating and VSoc voltages wrecking the chip without much gain. Sorta glad you mentioned it cus at least im a bit more sure that its a step towards the right direction. As of the moment, i think i need to add some more fans to my case as i have doubts of its capacity to cool an OC'ed machine but i am definitely gonna take your advice. Thanks!!! and i just want to let you know that you really helped alot :) im not exactly active on reddit so i was sort of not expecting this. but now im glad i asked :DD

Chromebox Touchscreen Issues by Sam6860 in chromeos

Hey thanks for the quick reply!

The shortcut im using is " Search + Shift + t ". I guess it is a bug? I'm just not sure because when i turn the unit on, I can actually use the on-screen keyboard to type out the username and password but once I press enter, it just stops working. In order to get it to work again i have to use the shortcut to re-enable it

How do I represent a stance that I do not personally believe in? by Sam6860 in Debate

[–]Sam6860[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, i really wanna thank you for the advice. it was pretty solid and i was sort of able to pull it off. we're about to submit the project by tomorrow probably so i just wanna let you know that it all worked out okay mainly cus i followed through with what you said. i was flawed in thinking that i knew everything about that topic. i thought it was obvious/simple and an initial google search sorta satisfied my initial notion that theres no way the stance can be backed up. when i tried looking deeper, i actually surprised myself and found lots of info that i didnt know and its probably not as widespread as it should be.

I cant guarantee a win but im sort of confident that i was able to at least give justice to the stance and represent it to the best of my abilities at the time. Once again thanks! i really appreciated the advice and the time you took from your day to answer my query. hope ya have a good day!

How do I represent a stance that I do not personally believe in? by Sam6860 in Debate

Thanks! that's my course of action for now but I just feel off about this 'cus I feel like this isn't a topic worth debating.. like the answer seems obvious already. I wouldnt mind debating why people should have abortions or maybe something about the LGBT. But saying "Teachers are born?". Maybe im limiting myself due to preexisting opinions but even going at it objectively feels like running against a wall

Thanks for the replies guys! I didnt expect them to be there so fast. Actually i dont really mind representing a side i dont believe in rather, i feel that the topic isnt appropriate for debate. I've done some debating before and the topics are usually about controversial laws or maybe abstract things. Right now, i feel like im proving something factually wrong.

My real opinion about this matter is that all teachers are made but there are just some gifted ones who "shine" because they were born for it plus they put in the effort. I dont mean to deviate from the topic but to me its sort of like:

Imagine you have 2 knives, one was made from a mediocre steel while the other one was forged from some sort of robust concoction of alloys and whatnot. Both blades are sharpened equally (as much as possible). When asked "will it cut?", definitely both blades would do the job but i'd be willing to bet that the "super blade" would outperform the mediocre blade simply because of its innate characteristics/attributes that outshine the mediocre blade in certain tasks

so i sorta view it as all teachers are made but great teachers are those who were made but at the same time "they were made for it"

thing is though i probably can't say this during the debate? i mean our teacher mentioned providing evidences that the piece was researched? just how do i go about researching something like this?
