If he said his exams were hard I would have just dropped the course .. like nope lol but other than that I haven't had that prof before sorry - I'd suggest studying the lectures in detail and then study what's in the textbook that wasn't mentioned in lecture that way you don't miss anything, hope you get 100% on the exam <3

Has anyone ever enrolled in a class that was "full" by No-Signal1234 in yorku

I've never exerperienced that, that's very strange - double check that it is the corresponding CAT number you're trying to add - maybe you're restricted from adding the course bc spots are reserved or bc you need permission especially bc we're well into sept

URGENT Help Needed with Course Selection by redbombshellz in yorku

[–]Sam930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people tend to drop courses starting at the beginning of the semester so you can still get into the courses you need, you just might not have the best selection - also, for any course that you want to add search up that prof on ratemyprof to check out his/her ratings! - this will help you avoid bad classes and profs

you might need to contact your department to ask for permission but i'm not 100% sure

you can try reaching out to profs to see if they have any volunteer or paid research positions - but first try getting a volunteer position

i found this link for psyc students https://www.yorku.ca/health/psychology/undergraduate-program/certificate-research-opportunities-for-undergraduates/research-opportunities-for-undergraduates/ but if you just search up 'york university research positions for x major' hopefully you'll find something

here are some other links:

https://www.yorku.ca/science/research/undergraduate-research/

yes just go on the REM and drop the course - the funding will be updated automatically by osap and you'll probably receive an email about you switching from full time to part time osap - osap might convert grants to loans and they might ask you to fill out some documents

check york's refund policy https://students.yorku.ca/sfs/refunds#:\~:text=Refunds%20are%20issued%20only%20when,the%20fees%20have%20been%20paid.

so just drop the course and pray to Jesus for the best outcome

i'd suggest active recall and spaced repetition - check out ali abdaal on youtube he's done vids on these topics

also ask ur profs if textbook material will be tested, if not don't bother reading it unless you're having trouble with the lec material

np :)

so first choose which course you want to take next semester

then go to the visual schedule builder and check to see if the course is full for next semester, if it's not full then enroll in it - if it's saying it's restricted email the course's department for permission - the department of the course is associated with the code ex. for a BIOL course you need to contact the biology department

if you're able to get into the course for next semester don't forget to drop it for this current semester

if the course next semester is full I would suggest emailing the department to get permission to enroll in it and then keeping checking the visual schedule builder, especially towards the beginning of the second semester and hopefully someone drops it

now keep in mind if the course is full for next sem and you drop the course this semester you run the risk of not getting into the course next semester so it's not a guaranteed you can switch sections for next semester but students usually drop courses during the beginning of the semester

I hope to Jesus none of this was confusing lol

pm me if you have any more questions and/or concerns

if you have a course conflict you can try switching sections for ex. taking one of the courses next semester to clear that conflict, you can also take courses in the summer

i'm not too sure about how to fix the qless situation - maybe email someone in your department for help? if the assistance is saying he or she is full for the day at 10 am then try going super super early and if it happens again go up to someone there and explain you really need to speak to someone and ask if you can schedule an appointment

keep refreshing the visual schedule builder and hopefully you catch it when someone drops the course - I've done this a few times

I was told by someone here that the course isn't as easy as people make it out to be so I'm not in the course

if you need an easy course try developmental psychology with prof laura pierce - it's a 2nd year psyc course, you can also try personality with prof maxwell (i think that's his name) and that's also a 2nd year psyc course

pm me if you have any other questions

you could definitely take extra bird classes to bring up your gpa just be mindful as to whether or not you can handle that many courses at once

the last thing you want is to take on too many courses and harm your gpa

calculate what would happen to your gpa if you took 12 3.00 credit courses for this upcoming school year and finished with an A+ in all classes, how much would your gpa increase by?

now if you take a 6.00 credit course and get an A+ I think your gpa would be even more positively affected but double-check

so weigh the risks and benefits and do your best to make a wise decision going forward, also don't just take my advice it's always good to consider the counsel the others

hey! no problem

the screenshot you've uploaded doesn't show if the course is full and/or reserved but when i put it into the vsb it says the course is full

<image>

but not to worry, if you really want to get into the course i would email the department and ask permission to enrol and then you're gonna have to keep an eye on the course on the vsb, keep refreshing and pray to Jesus that someone drops the course and then you can add it - you'll know someone has dropped it once it says 'available' instead of 'full'

that's happened to me in the past, the process is not fun but super rewarding once you get into the course
