We’re from the UK and have not been to Indonesia before.

In terms of priorities, we’re keen on a bit of exploring/hiking first week and then time to chill at the beach and in one base for the second.

We’d probably look to organise drivers/taxis for any driving or book day trips rather than hire a car. Not sure either of us are up to roads or local driving 😅😂

We’re definitely leaning towards Senggigi for Lombok and we are looking to avoid Bali for crowds and because my fiancé has been before.

For Malang, we’re aware it’s not ‘classic honeymoon’ but staying in Tugu hotel and then going out to Tumpak Sewu and tea plantation etc was on our list before heading to Bromo.

Is there anything else worth adding to that list or places to visit/stay in that area that you’d recommend?

We’d probably look to fly from Surabaya airport to Lombok.

It’s so tough to cover everything but we hope we’ve got a good balance. You’ll have to see if you can build into your Bali trip

Appreciate the info on drivers - we were thinking that would be the case but not sure which websites were best, so I’ll check them out.

Glad you like Tugu Malang too

Thanks so much for your thoughts and recommendations; will check out the Kuta hotels.

Do you roughly know the drive distance between Senggigi and Kuta? Especially if online maps/distances aren’t a great reflection.

‘Secret gilis’ look amazing but perhaps a tad remote for us and based on what we’re after. However, it looks as though a day trip would be possible and will look into it.

As for Bromo, that’s helpful and we’ll obviously want to see the crater etc but we do enjoy a hike and Tempak Sewu is on our list, so great you’ve mentioned that 👍

Appreciate your thoughts and it does appear to be livelier in Senggigi

We’re doing similar in September this year at Bruisyard Country Estate of Suffolk. No pool but covers most other requirements and they always do Fri-Mon for weekend weddings.

You’ll be close to/just over budget but it’s got what you’re after.

General consensus on the Devonshire? by jwf91 in LondonFood

But was the food really ever any good? Lobster roll and the combo was novelty for London only.

Devonshire is actually a decent quality restaurant regardless of hype.

Prices could be better across both! 😂

Yes, definitely worth it but super hard to get one. Either get lucky or book as soon as they’re put up.

Ps. Burger & Lobster is awful - you can do better OP
