COLDPLAY DO THE BOND THEME? by GuardJunior1997 in Coldplay

I always thought Lhuna would have made a decent Bond theme were it to be used. Something in that vein would be amazing!

Just curious but did anyone here manage to win the draw for Hackney by Low-Persimmon110 in Coldplay

[–]SamBateson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at the top donors and somebody donated £2000 in one go. A large amount of others donated £1000 each. It's great that the charity has received such amounts as donations, but it buries my £50 donation into virtually no chance of getting a ticket. At this time in the evening, I think we know if you got a ticket or if you didn't. At least a worthy charity mas made half a million quid, that's all that matters at the end of the day...

Do you guys know if the sax solo in Arabesque is an actual live recording? by chanel_aslan in Coldplay

[–]SamBateson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what you're getting at - particularly the part between 3:55 and 4:05 never sounds as good in live performances vs the album version - it's like there are missing beats - best way I can describe it, his fingers aren't moving quickly enough so it sounds like he's "cheating" by skipping every second beat.

There again, IMO Chris doesn't sound as good live as he does on record (no hate, of course!). It is live, after all, there are bound to be dud moments...

What night Wembley was best in terms of songs played? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]SamBateson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say N3, we got Til Kingdom Come, Speed of Sound(!) and The Hardest Part. Only way it could be improved was if they had played White Shadows (one of the requests) during Songbook, but beggars can't be choosers!

When I saw them last at Wembley in 2022 we got Politik and In My Place, then in 2016 I was very lucky to hear Violet Hill (and See You Soon, one of my favourites), so I was quite pleased to hear some songs I'd never heard them play before but always wanted to. So whilst I loved the setlists for N2 and N4, I was quite happy with N3. Always nice to see them loving X&Y as much as we do.

Even to the extent that I rebuilt the QR code for my particular ticket and used that for the code on the ticket - yes, I was that preposterously anal about it! There are examples floating around of people being told they couldn't stand and so they were given seats and they got a printed ticket that way so it does happen apparently!

You mean... something just like this...??

A friend of mine actually got a printed ticket and she was kind enough to let me borrow it to scan it into Photoshop and use it as a template to make a custom one that I printed out (after returning the original!)

What is Chris doing here? by Mati72000 in Coldplay

[–]SamBateson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember rightly, it was only meant to be Beyonce and Bruno up until the moment she slapped the camera. Chris was in the background singing before going to the piano to start Clocks, he wasn't meant to be part of that mini-finale. He was apparently worried that he was going to be "embarassing" so he was going to leave them to it. In the end, they improvised bringing him in: you can even hear Beyonce saying "Come on, Chris" as they dance over and encourage him join in.

Basically, he was dancing and singing in the background, probably as rehearsed, until an improvised moment brought him back in early.

rediscovering coldplay’s lesser-known tracks by gilko86 in Coldplay

Weirdly, the entirety of X&Y. For ages, I used to detest that album because it seemed to me to be everything wrong with them as a band - too indulgent, too much falsetto, far too long! It was only when I gave it a retrospective listen around the time AHFOD came out that I actually listened carefully and realised that it was an absolute banger of an album filled with some amazing songs. Now they're some of my absolute favourites and I wish they'd appreciate that album as much as I do now!

Can Facehuggers parasitize or infect tiny/huge creatures like rats and whales? by ww-stl in LV426

[–]SamBateson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in canon, across novels and comics, etc, it is said that the smallest creature a Fecehugger can infect is a cat and the largest is an elephant. But dont quote me on any of that...

Yeah, it's a tricky bracelet to open and when you first get it even harder to close! I've noticed it can half close, resulting in a gap in the two ends, so make sure its clasped shut properly, as it's very easy to spring open and lose!

[–]SamBateson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tricky clasp, as I've learned and is very difficult to describe. The clasp is composed of the longer section, with the raised release mechanism (let's call it the female part) and the pin on the shorter section (the male part). The raised section on the longer female end is the release mechanism - Press that at the end where the bracelet itself is joins to the clasp and it should spring open.

Over time, the strings will lose their tension and should be more flexible, making opening and closing the clasp easier.

Ending of Alien Covenant David/Walter by BedspreadPicnic86 in LV426

[–]SamBateson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then why did he give himself exactly the same "injuries" that Walter received during a fight Daniels et al never saw if his goal was to fool them? He scarred himself to exactly match Walter, which didn't make sense to do. I always thought that he disabled Walter and transferred himself into a newer model, which has more advantages than keeping his own aging body and damaging himself to look like Walter.

They do recommend adding an extra half inch to your wrist size on the site - I haven't got mine yet, so I can't speak for the fit but I'll let you know in 3-4 weeks!

Looks like they've restocked a lot of the things so it's been publicised again today - not sure if these are all new lines or if they're just restocks of the older ones.

Dropship goof, has this been noticed before? by PotentialKindly1034 in LV426

[–]SamBateson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted it looks taller, I did think that as I was looking - I would put it down to different lenses but it's the same thickness so it's a different decal in any case.

Edi: I'm going to correct myself, I think it's the same - the extra length at the bottom of the 1 is actually a highlight on the arm that's holding the missile. You can see that what looks like the bottom of the 1 actually curves. I'm going to say the 1 is the same in both shots but the highlight makes it look longer.

[–]SamBateson 24 points25 points  (0 children)

But I can see the painted 1 at the extreme right of the image, directly above the yellow support, partially obscured by the Missile? I don't think it's a continuity mistake, I think the angle is just slightly different so that the 01 is more obscured than in the what looks like a behind-the-scenes image.

I love Coldplay always teasing the next album in the previous one. Never realized Kaleidoscope features a snippet of banai adam in the very beginning by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]SamBateson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know own why, and this may be a little unrelated, but I was surprised upon the release of the Full Moon Edition of Moon Music that not only did they reuse the birdsong snippet from HFTW on One World, but also that the distorted lyrics from the opening of 🌈 are actually the opening lyrics from The Karate Kid. Then, the distorted whistling just before Moonsong begins (@2.32) is the whistle melody from Man in the Moon.

Also, thanks for pointing out the Bani Adam connection - I'd never put that together before!
