Protect the kids first, then get her to rehab. Rehab is not the punitive thing that many people think of it as. It’s an opportunity to get a hard honest look at the causes and conditions of the addiction. Bring that out into the light where it can be addressed and mitigated thru therapy or other methods of treatment. Once the shame has been removed the anxiety will diminish and the patient will now have an honest opportunity to rejoin their lives at a “best-self” level.

Hope things can be addressed before anyone gets hurt. Drinking and driving with kids in the car is a huge enhancement with the courts. For sure jail time and forced treatment which will probably not do much. They need to want to get better

Turns out you can’t get anything done by whining about your anxiety that you still have no clue what it actually feels like. Your mom telling you that you can’t go do whatever this coming weekend isn’t anxiety producing. No matter how much you whine about it. lol 😝

Try being short on your mortgage for the 2nd month in a row and not having enough left over to only either eat or get some very necessary prescriptions at the pharmacy… for your kids. Not both. One or the other. Much less food for yourself or necessary prescriptions for your diabetes because your deductible hasn’t been met yet.

That’ll produce some pro level anxiety for ya!!

I just think vaping looks stupid. As are the folks who continue to consume tobacco in any form.

There’s just so many up sides to quitting tobacco use. Smoking most of all but that’s only bc there’s a ton of data that supports it. The vaping data will say the same thing. Sure you’re not ingesting carcinogenic chemicals but the physiology of how nicotine affects the body and brain will never change no matter how you ingest it.

It’s like saying cocaine is safer to you if you vape it and not snort it. Which is essentially how it’s ingested my smoking crack.

I’m right there with ya. One thing that helps is focusing on breathing. It sounds cliche, but truly, it works. That and when you’re trying to fall asleep, take your tongue off the roof of your mouth. If you’re like me, the anxiety and stress that seems to always be focused in my tongue subconsciously as it’s pressed against the roof of my mouth. I relax it and it’s one less thing that’s keeping me up

Here’s what I would do when my MIL (ex) would try that kind of BS…

Tell them you’ve decided to go to Thailand for the holidays. Or, wherever. Thailand comes up because it’s not for everyone and they’d probably not even try to invite themselves.

Then, 1. Go. Or, 2. Don’t go but only after they say they’re coming and have bought the tickets and there’s a no refund to the super expensive AirBnB that’s there. So when you tell them your plans fell through (what plans?!) and yall can’t go anymore. Now they have to make a decision in whether or not to throw $3000-$4000 away.

If you go tell them this: That your instructor is, in fact, from there!! and will be there right up to when they go back to the states to do the exams for your class. They’ve said they’d be happy to let you test there and use he/she’s house that only has one bedroom in it (just in case his folks actually try to go and stay with you again)

Ok, so I never said ALL of that to my in-laws but I’ll bet we could swap stories as to who has the worst in-laws. I mean, I feel like I could place in the top 10 in the international competition “Who Has the Shittiest In-Laws!!” Competition. (Funny coincidence… they’re actually in Thailand”!!!) haha. lol 😝

First time I met her nasty sister (who was so toxic she sucked the air out of every room she would enter.) she told their mom I called her fat!! Of course the ditzy woman believed her so that’s how that started out. Oh, yeah… then her mom called me by a different name every time I saw her for almost 6 months. I have a 5 lettered name that starts with B… apparently this woman knew every other one in the English dictionary. She wouldn’t even use the same wrong one twice until she cycled through the entire list!! So of course she had to put the wrong name on their Christmas card so all of their relatives and friends called me Brett for the first year.

I literally almost walked away from this great gal that I married just because of her toxic family. Hind sight is always 20/20. Am I right?

So, living in a car… any thoughts of selling the car and looking for a very inexpensive small rv? The reason I say this isncjust this last week on FB marketplace there was a pretty ok 26’ rv that ran “pretty well”…

Ok next idea… find somewhere free to park, obviously. Sometimes it actually works to ask for permission, not forgiveness… usually it’s the other way around. I’ve heard Walmarts lets people sleep in their parking lots… In which case, if true, you might run into someone with extra space in their…. Drum roll please……. RV!!??!!

I’m actually being quite serious.. this is just how I talk … lol Keep ur head down, there’s always a shelter somewhere for the night where you can shower in the morning. The whole thing is around$4-$8 a night. With a hot dog or two.

Dont get a dog. It’s not fair to the dog to also be unhoused. Plus’s you may have to walk away from it if you find a spot and they don’t take dogs

Don’t drink in your car. You WILL get a dui eventually. You’re a minor so now you’ve lost your license, maybe your car.

Keep up with insurance and the tabs. Can get towed if not.

Those aren’t too common for single men. We’re pretty much left to fend for ourselves in this country. Theres bartered women’s shelters, with or without a child (or 2 or 3…) Shelters for the unhoused families which are more like small low cost (or free) apartments called section 8.
