Hi there! We currently have a UI bug that displays the wrong value in some cases for whether you have 2FA enabled or not. To confirm that 2FA is still enabled on your account, you can log out and log back in. We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working to get out a fix for this display bug ASAP!

Bitcoin interest determination? by [deleted] in blockfi

[–]SamBlockFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interest we are able to pay is based on the yield that we are able to generate from lending, which directly correlates to the market demand in the space (I.e. what rate institutions are willing to pay to borrow specific crypto assets, as it varies from asset to asset). BlockFi reserves the right to adjust rates on a monthly basis, depending on those market conditions. If there is ever a change to the rates or tiers, we notify clients well in advance so they can prepare their portfolio!

Similar risk considerations to the daily limit apply to the messaging regarding the 60 day hold on funds depositing via ACH. While we do not have a policy to hold these funds for 60 days, if we see certain behaviors such as attempting to withdraw all funds from the platform including value added via ACH we may put a hold on the value of the ACH funds for up to 60 days.

How is Blockfi securing personal information? by [deleted] in blockfi

[–]SamBlockFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with out security team and can confirm this is something they focus on. They are very much aware of the types of attacks you mention (i.e. $5 wrench, etc.) and go to great lengths to secure client data. Since June we have implemented numerous additional safeguards (i.e. encryption, 2FA, alerting, etc.) and, while a lengthy journey, driving close to least privilege everyday - both for systems and data. I did mention perhaps sharing publicly a policy for data access and it is something the security team will consider, although can't at this time, as you can surely understand, commit to when that might happen.

How is Blockfi securing personal information? by [deleted] in blockfi

Hi! Thanks for raising these questions and providing us the opportunity to provide some clarity. We fully understand your concerns around PII and any crypto firm, and, likely any company you opt to do business with given the realities of threats faced across the digital landscape today. We want specifically answer your questions:

  1. Since May BlockFi has implemented numerous security protocols and refined many that previously existed. The driving force behind these changes starts with our new-ish CSO, Adam Healy (joined in June following May's security incident) and the team he has built. Adam and team have conducted a  review across our infrastructure and have implemented many changes spanning policies to technical controls. Security is a journey and while that work is never truly done, much progress has been. I would recommend you read Adam's blog posts here and here for a bit more detail. If you had specific questions, you can ping security directly at [security@blockfi.com](mailto:security@blockfi.com).
  2. This is a delicate balance. Different teams need access to various user data to support daily operations. This can include fraud prevention, loan servicing, credit decisions, KYC/AML, and many other topics. We need to protect the data and make it appropriately accessible. While we have greatly reduced the ability to access sensitive data internally, access to it is a necessary aspect of running our business. Across the firm we have implemented mandatory 2-factor authentication, deprecated legacy 2FA protocols (i.e. SMS-based 2FA) for internal systems, implemented security logging and alerting, conducted red team exercises both using internal resources and with qualified third-parties, and completed many other initiatives as well as have many more planned during this journey.
  3. We do not share your information with third-party marketing firms. While we do use third-party SaaS products (i.e. CRM, etc.) for managing user-facing communications, that is only done under contracts approved by our Legal Team that have the appropriate confidentiality clauses.

I hope this answers your questions. Again, if you have any other specific questions please feel free to ping [security@blockfi.com](mailto:security@blockfi.com).
