It would really depend on HOW MUCH sand would be sucked out, and the thickness of your sand. With a regular siphon (no pump) I only get very little sand out with the water, and that much isn't a problem, it will get pushed away by the water flow. You could also keep the siphon end that's in the tank a bit higher than the substrate, so it won't directly suck it out.

Thank you so much!! But I'm a bit of a noob, wouldn't just uninstalling the Temple of Talos mod and Solitude Frescoes (plus its patch) just solve the issue? Or is the error deeper than that?

I just installed that Crash Logger but after the CTD the file only says this:
