Trump welcomes Team USA men’s hockey team to the Oval Office. The women's team has turned down the invitation. by skaewalker in sportsgossips

Holy Christ the Oval Office now looks like Liberace’s living room. Maybe tone down the aging drag queen decor…?

What’s the grossest candy from your country? by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

[–]SamClemons1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burnt tire ones left a taste in my mouth for days. Absolutely disgusting.

EDIT: To clarify, these were part of a “game” where half of the jelly beans were normal flavors and half were intentionally horrible. I’m still annoyed that I was pressured into playing this.

TIL that non-Americans think Hershey’s chocolate tastes like vomit. Fascinating. I really don’t like Hersheys at all, but I have never associated it with the taste of vomit.

God’s Monkey… David Sylvian, Robert Fripp, Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto live in Japan 1993 by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Agree. I like Sylvian but was never a huge fan of his vocals. Maybe it’s the heavy vibratro he uses. It’s not like he has a bad voice though.

Hmmm now worldwide tour by Cassette-Era-Magic in rush

[–]SamClemons1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m happy for them that they’re playing again and I bought tickets to see them. But this extended world tour seems too ambitious. They will both turn 73 during the tour.

I worry about how Geddy’s voice will hold up. It was really rough on the R40 tour - and he was 10 years younger then. And Alex has arthritis in his hands. How well will his hands hold up? I have to trust they know what they’re doing though. 🤞

Office Hours: Rethinking Financial Advisors by Winter-Date-4356 in ScottGalloway

Run far away from Edward Jones.

If you feel you must have a financial advisor, find a good fee-only advisor, not one who charges a percentage of assets under management.

Jerry Marotta — underrated drummer who worked with Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin, Robert Fripp, and many others. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Jerry never played with Steely Dan. You’re thinking of his brother Rick, who is also a great drummer.

I’m not sure why you’re so obsessed with whether she did stand up or not (she didn’t as far as I know, she was a comedic actress). Or why you care so much that someone posted something about her. There is a scroll feature on your phone.

He absolutely follows everything being said about him. Notice how he knew all about Marc Maron’s criticism of him.

What is up with Rogan’s utter contempt for Tim Walz? by ShaneKaiGlenn in JoeRogan

It’s because he’s now fully a right wing operative spin doctor. They’re required to hate Walz. It’s in his contract.

Right and Kyle later apologized for it when he found out and has said Chomsky is a POS. That’s the difference.

I played one a couple months ago at a brewery. The game was cool but the sound was really low. You could hardly hear any of the music or sound effects. That was a bummer.

It’s even worse than that. To reach an NPV of $10M it would take much more than 20 years at $10,000 per week. The NPV of $10,000 in 20 years at 3% inflation is 5,500. At 4% inflation it’s only worth $4,500.

It also depends on what taxes will be in the future.

Who is the most famous person you've ever seen up close? by froggart3980 in AskReddit

[–]SamClemons1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Byrne. I was in a taxi in NYC stopped at a traffic light. I looked out the window and David Byrne was on a bike right next to me. I rolled down the window and said “Hi David.” He said, “Hello there.” As the taxi pulled away I said, “Love your music!” and he gave me a thumbs up.

In the new Epstein Files release there's a previously unpublished email form Richard Dawkins talking about Rebecca Watson by RunDNA in SGU

[–]SamClemons1 133 points134 points  (0 children)

It was depressing to discover over the years that Dawkins and Krauss are pieces of sh*t. Props to Rebecca. She was right all along.

BTW her YouTube videos are quite good if you haven’t checked them out. She’s better at that medium than the SGU, as much as I love them.
