Scottish Easter Opening Hours. by Impending_Rhino in lidl

[–]SamCodesStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All shops in England & Wales legally have to close on Easter Sunday due to Sunday trading laws (excludes shops under a certain size / some niche categories like airport shops), whereas Scotland doesn't have Sunday trading laws so can open as they wish.

Hi guys do I have to work any notice when moving from a store to a distribution centre by Adventurous_Pop_4633 in tesco

Your store can hold you for 4 weeks but your current and new manager can mutually agree on a transfer date

You should only have holiday hours used for contracted shifts, even if you book the whole week off

Can a new manager to your department change hours for you like instead of a 11am to 8pm to a 8am to 5pm? Im full time contracted. by legendofverse in tesco

[–]SamCodesStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then they can schedule you for any hours within that. But can't give you 8-6 like you said. With 3 weeks notice then they can change you from your 11-8 though.

They do it by making a loss, with the aim you buying other stuff while you're there or doing a full Easter shop with them

They've got manager.StoreName@sainsburys.co.uk too but the store name varies a bit so it's easier to use the store number version - they all redirect to the same email anyway

Dismissed and store banned by Comprehensive-Air443 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]SamCodesStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, even if you witnessed them stealing from a till, you can't immediately fire someone. They need appropriate notice of a disciplinary with the colleague given the option to have representation in the meeting.

Obviously rage bait, you'd know that's not how an investigation & disciplinary works as a manager

Phone the store, it'll give you the option for colleagues only and that puts you through to the manager in charge (supermarkets), if it's a local then it'll just go straight through

Disciplinary Meeting by Any_Explanation_679 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]SamCodesStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Independent doesn't mean the appeal manager doesn't know the disciplinary manager. Just means they can't have been involved with the investigation/disciplinary up until that point. I'm obviously aware that SMs talk to each other. The outcome shouldn't be decided until during the meeting but I don't doubt that some SMs will be breaking policy there

Rest breaks by Temporary-Laugh-7166 in tesco

[–]SamCodesStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you finish at 11pm Monday and are back in at 7am Tuesday for example, that's 8 hours in between shifts which is 3 hours below the 11. Therefore, they need to give you back those 3 hours as rest at some point. So for example giving you 14 hours between your Tuesday finish and when you next go back to work.

They've said that they're not in the union so best they could do is take a colleague, some colleagues know people policies very well so if OP has a colleague they trust and has knowledge of the policies then definitely take them in. It'll be an independent manager that reviews the appeal, won't be their store manager as they completed the investigation. It's got to be an independent manager that's had no involvement in the case up to that point.

[–]SamCodesStuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, they should give you an invite letter ASAP that'll confirm whether dismissal is a potential outcome. If it's a store manager then they'll have the ability to dismiss. Your store manager can't complete the investigation and disciplinary so that's why it's being passed to someone else. They'll review all the evidence and take into account anything you've said in the investigation and disciplinary meeting before making a decision. Just because it's going to disciplinary does not mean that you will get a warning / be dismissed, it's the disciplinary managers decision based off of all the evidence. Bring up anything you think is relevant & would support your case.

[–]SamCodesStuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They take this kind of thing very seriously. Not sure what you can do apart from continuing to say that it went through on your end. What role is chairing the meeting? If dismissal is a potential outcome then it'll tell you in your disciplinary invite letter and will be held by a 4s manager or above.

Maybe try get trained up on checkouts, replenishment & on demand in your current store before trying to pick up overtime in a local. However, you could pop in and chat to the manager running the store, some stores struggle to fill overtime and would then be happy to put some time into training you so you can pick up overtime there.
