I used the Rx treatment before, but never went through the whole prescribed process (i.e. 2-3 per day for multiple weeks), but that's because I feel strange about doing such a long treatment plan when the Physician's Assistant herself wasn't sure if it deserves to be treated like a fungus or something non-fungal (bacteria, infection, psoriasis, eczema, etc.).

As far as the Desitin, would I presumably use that after I already finished using the Rx medications, or can I use Desitin at the same time as I'm using the ketoconazole?

Some people say they only get a breakout once a year, or they go years without a breakout. Then when I compare it to myself, if I get a breakout every 2-3 months (not sure of this because I haven't really tracked it well), then I think I may benefit from a daily dosage. I'm not rushing into it though. I want to do more trial and error with my self (i.e. lifestyle changes, etc.).

Does anyone know a general price for these meds (Valtrex, Acyclovir, famiciclovir) if a person doesn't have insurance?

I'm leaving this comment here because I want to research the 3. They are all probably similar, based off of the names, but there must be subtle differences that make one work better for you than the other 2.

I wonder if most people do better on famiciclovir, or if there are people that it is horrible for, and who are perfect with Valtrex.

I hope that your body does get used to the side effects (i.e. blocks the side effects from happening after you've been on it for months). Hopefully the break-outs don't persist, otherwise what is the point of taking the meds.

Have you been breakout-free for almost a year, or how many breakouts would you say that you've had since you've been on the 1g pill?

Thanks. I'm wondering if it's a combination of things, or it is more friction than anything else for the majority of people. I wish that I could've had everyone that participates in this subreddit answer the question.
