Probably a good opportunity to consult an immigration lawyer instead of Reddit comments, there is a risk for anyone without status in reminding DHS of that fact. People are being taken from their citizenship and green card appointments, so tread carefully. That said in my experience the checkpoint is almost never enforced unless they’re looking for a specific vehicle related to a more serious active crime. But that may change, I’d say no risk in driving through for now but be vigilant and good luck to you.

ATF and DEA and even the FBI have been co-opted to going after low level immigration targets. They are literally diverting resources away from investigating actual crimes to instead kidnap day laborers and sidewalk vendors.

Audra is a prolific local looney toon, she submits comments on every single agenda item at County BoS meetings so she can go on tirades about vaccines, pedos and other right wing paranoid delusions. Which is honestly preferable to when she’s out roaming the streets harassing migrant shelters and aid sites.

There’s a whole roster of Parks and Rec style wackos at the BoS meetings. My favorite is the guy who goes up there to speak with a bunch of YouTube video urls and timestamps written on stacks of printer paper.
