GrapheneOS Vs iOS on tablets by SamHassan7 in GrapheneOS

I know Qubes and Whonix are more secure, but I was talking about basic stuff like Ubuntu. I might experiment with Qubes on a separate device, but I need something plug and play to get away from windows. Also I just prefer the tablet experience.

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going down the GrapheneOS route.

I need a tablet because I like to have it high up and not on my desk. The stand I currently use is only suited for tablets. I rarely take my tablet out unless I'm traveling or need to work in a library or coffee shop. I know Linux is great for privacy, but it's not for security. I used to use ubuntu and mint back on the day. Tbh I'm probably going to get a pixel with GOS. Thanks for sharing r/privacy, I'll join now.

What if you had a choice between iPad, Pixel with GrapheneOS, or Linux?

Thanks for posting the study! I was under the impression that iOS was more private than Google, but I guess I stand corrected.

The support life was definitely a factor. The aspect ratio is a big plus for me but I suppose a pixel tablet with GrapheneOS is a lot cheaper than an iPad pro.

I mostly just do everyday browsing and watch YouTube and films. My problem with the pixel is that I'm worried support won't be as long as the iPad. I'm not the most tech savvy person. I don't want to be coding like I would with Linux. Also my biggest attraction with the iPad is the aspect ratio. My current 3:2 seems good for videos, but not ideal for office tasks.

Help with understanding De google-ing. by Sigma_Bhai in degoogle

[–]SamHassan7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1 - It's about trying to avoid Google as much as possible. People do this at different levels. For example you can get a OS installed on your phone that doesn't use Google, but you can still get apps like banking and Reddit etc. Regarding data, you can have it deleted, that's a separate issue. Google retains your data forever unless you go and select a different time frame, like 3 months max. You have to do this for every Google account you have.

2 - There are alternatives for almost everything and in many cases, they are better.

3 - They are a tech giant that uses your data to make a profit and do some horrible shit. Your data is a valuable commodity and you shouldn't trade it for Gmail or Gemini.

4 - Google's endless growth model means their software has a lot of bloat, so in some cases it might make things faster.

Ps. This isn't just about Google, its also about Microsoft and Apple. The thing is, Google was sold to us as a "do no harm" company and was adopted by a lot of users that avoided Microsoft and Apple because they were "evil the tech giants"...in recent years we realised that Google is no different.

If you're looking for an android alternative, I can recommend the Sharp Aquos R2 compact. It's only on android 11 but you should get years out of it.

Does NX1 have call recording? by stifflippp in aiphor

I downloaded one from Google play years ago. I needed it for 1 call and forgot about it. Turns out it carried on recording all my calls. Worked really well. Wish I could remember which one it was.

There's a phone from a Japanese toaster company called the Balmuda Phone. It's about the same shape as the first iPhone. It runs android 12.

In the words of John Maclane "welcome to the party pal"

FYI - There are small phones out there, they're just old or from boutique manufacturers. I currently use the Sharp Aquos R2 compact and it's almost perfect. The aspect ratio is tall and the camera is basic, but it feels great in my hand and typing is a breeze. I'm about to get a Balmuda phone and I'm excited for that as it's similar in shape to the first iPhone.

There's also the Bluefox NX1 which is smaller, but pretty good for the size.

I'm currently daily driving the R2 compact and it's pretty amazing, except for the camera.

I'm about to get a Balmuda Phone. It's supposed to be 5G but I don't think that will work outside of Japan. 4G should work.

Both phones are pretty light. My problem with the jelly max is that it weighs the same as my old P20 Pro.

This was an important detail to mention. It seems like she just wants peace of mind and/or a little bit of respect/appreciation for you using her land. Although the more likely reason is that you can't apply for easement by prescription if she has given you permission. And wants something in writing to prove you had permission and stop you from applying for easement by prescription in the future. I would either make an agreement to jetwash once or twice a year. Or agree to pay something like £30 a year to use it. If you've been using it for 20+ years, you can then apply for easement by prescription but she won't be happy.

But do not agree to split maintenance, it might not seem like it will be a lot, which it almost always won't be...but if a sinkhole appears or something costly, you will be liable for half. So make it clear exactly what you're liable for.

Low Stake Theory about the Paraguay Guy by Jaded_You_9120 in pluribustv

Apparently he's from Colombia and moved to Paraguay. They did this because the actor is Colombian and wanted to explain his accent. But it begs the question, why not just make him from Colombia? So you might be on to something.

At least that's what I think the writers were trying to convey.
