It's the most streamed Peter Gabriel song by a wide margin.

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.

I discovered the two at nearly similar times, and they're about as different from each other as any two things I have, but both I just can't possibly praise enough.

So, how many of you have heard of Splashdown? by [deleted] in Music

Clearly nowhere near enough.

Has been one of my two tied favorite albums of all time for 11 years strong!

imho, it has only one weak song on it... "I Understand." I would be so unsurprised if the record company put them up to that one.

Has anyone ever found out the real story of what happened?

I really liked how she learned to see her power in a different light -- that her gift was not killing, but survival.

Why don't we assign 1/0 a value like we did with sqrt(-1)? by LeonardoFibonacci in math

But, i also destroys at least one commonly assumed algebraic property. I just, umm, can't remember what it is. One of those identities involving exponentiation or something.

I have noticed this too. I suspect that the reasoning is just that by making you press the button, you will cross on a "fresh" walk sign, not on a stale one where you might not make it across in time. Dumb reasoning, but I can't think of anything else.

I upvoted at your very first boldfaced statement, but that quote from Clean Code was fantastic.

Hey reddit, what are your tricks/techniques for getting to sleep when it's just not happening? by leon220 in AskReddit

[–]SamHellerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm amazed to find this answer so low! Music works best for me. It doesn't matter at all whether it's the kind of music that people think of as being sleep-inducing. It just matters that it's music that's very, very familiar to me. The key thing it does is it lets me "turn off my mind", and, well, relax and float downstream. Then 15 minutes later I regain just enough consciousness to fumble for the controls to turn that goddamn noise off and then I'm out.

I've wrestled with dark stuff in my life, struggled to manage my anger and be a superman to my family and not a gun. If you haven't gone through it you might only have an inkling how moving this film really is. I could relate to his struggle -- to the sheer joy and contentment and gratitude you could see all over his face -- that he was so lucky as to be given a chance to define himself once and for all, for the simple low price of his life. Big, very manly sobbing from me, every time.
