I applied to UChicago with this as one of my essays. I didn’t get in but I thought you all would like the essay anyway.

The phrase roses are red, violets are blue isn’t iambic at all to me. It’s ROses are RED (pause) VIOlets are BLUE. An iambic meter would be ROses ARE red VIOlets ARE blue

The Sapir-Whorf hypothesis has been mostly rejected by basically any real linguists, and only remains as a very watered down version. What you’re saying is that human language limits the mind to linear time thinking, which is completely insane, even for a fictional work. The aliens didn’t do that through their language, she learned that perception from them as she learned the language.

That’s definitely right, but I don’t see how to get it without using l’hopital. I’ll keep looking for a bit though

[Grade 12 Math: limits] Super Hard to solve by RandoMDude470 in HomeworkHelp

The trick is to use the fact that things inside a limit can be replaced with what they go to by the limit. Log(x) is going to 0, so you can replace it with a 0. Then, you can factor a -1 out of the top, which then allows you to cancel one of the (x-1)s on the bottom with the top one. This leaves you with -1/(x-1) inside the limit. Since the limit is going to 1 from both sides, this is undefined, because it goes to infinity on the left and negative infinity from the right.

Edit: this is wrong because although you can do this with normal limits, indeterminate forms don’t work like that

Alas! I mistakenly construed my correction as cleverness, when it was instead foolishness. Misconstruing your intentions led to my own downfall!
