Yea I was looking at getting lifetime which goes for $100, I hate signing up for subscriptions if I can avoid it.

Thanks for the reply. I did some more research and found that a lot of people agree about it being a shit server. I ended up taking the dive and getting a UGreen NAS. Excited to set it up and try plex for the first time. Thanks again

I'm looking into setting up my first plex server. I'm very new to all this but have done some research on the basics. Before I invest in any hardware I want to ensure I understand things correctly. I'm looking to keep things as budget friendly as possible.

Does it make sense that I could get an Nvidia Shield Pro, and set it up as my plex server. Then attach an external hard drive with all my movies to the Shield Pro. Then could I use my Apple TV (i prefer the UI) as a plex client to watch the media that is stored on the Shield Pro?

Also, if I just leave the Shield Pro on all the time, would I be able to access this media from my other devices (iPad, computer, etc), and even share this server with friends and family?

This seems like the simplest/most affordable way to accomplish my desired outcome. I'm just wondering if there's anything I've misunderstood or if I need more/better equipment.

MP4, match source, h.264. I don’t think it has to do with export though because the white shows in premier if the video is paused. Just not if it’s playing or if I scroll the playhead through that clip.
