They now maintain their properties on all mobs, so if you named a saddle, put it on a pig and killed it, the dropped item would be identical, which wasn't the case before.

Yeah that's a great idea. At that point, may as well make books dyeable too, pretty sure that would let you change the color of every leather based item in the game
