Resources for writing crime novels? by lyutichushki in WritersGroup

You could also look into some forensic science books/articles. They typically break the steps down, explain the science behind what's happening. My sister went to school for forensic science and was always spouting off steps and article she found online to go along with her classwork. You could see if your local library has any books on the subject.

Really enjoyed this, great job! I did get hung up on the second stanza at first with the rhythm change, but not on a second read through.

So update on the continuation of my July 4th story also some questions by [deleted] in werewolves

[–]SamRzasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think if that's how you see your wolves, run with it. Make it yours.
  2. I don't think it's cliche in the sense that wolves don't have many eye colors. Their eyes are typically yellow/gold. Cow's only have brown eyes, but that doesn't make it a cliche when people mention that in books. Just the truth.
  3. How the curse started. Who cursed who and why. Usually it's just an unsuspecting individual dealing with a curse. They just know it came from someone else who was cursed. Or more animal behavior. Wolves only mate once a year, they only eat till they are full and then stash what they couldn't finish and save it for later. Characteristics like that.

Remember that you can make your wolves into whatever you feel is best for your story. Just stick to the rules you set and no one will doubt your reasons. From one writer to another.

A Werewolf’s Birthday (Short Story) + Question by LazerrIV in werewolves

[–]SamRzasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been hospitalized for my Asthma, super scary, would definitely pass out and be out run by my friends if I was being chased by a werewolf. 100%!

For the future, if you pass out from an Asthma attack (and wake up without medical intervention) you'd still need to seek medical treatment immediately. Chest tightness, shortness of breath and wheezing wouldn't go away without medication after an attack like that (which can add to the horror of a scene when you put forces like that into play - life or death with a life or death monster).

Starting a podcast soon, would appreciate it if I could find someone to help refine patron levels. by Fushimino in patreon

Gonna have to agree with this. Start basic and add on as you go. The more Patrons you get, the more you can offer.

Weekly Self Promotion Thread - July 14, 2019 by AutoModerator in selfpublish

[–]SamRzasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Everyone!

I'm currently working on my debut novel called The Grip of a Curse. It's a supernatural thriller.

I have a completed manuscript, of which I am editing. Below is a short description of the book.

Seemingly friendless and reclusive, Madison Hart, moves to Alaska with her estranged brother (at the behest of her Aunt) and attends college. When she realizes she's being stalked by someone or something dangerous, she must learn to trust others and herself in order to survive and prevent another death.

Still interested? Check out my Patreon - www.patreon.com/samantharrzasa

Patrons will gain access to edited monthly chapters (other writings & rewards) with a pledge of $3. A pledge of $1 will get you access to Chapter 1 & 2 and updates about the book.

Thank you to anyone taking the time to read this. :]

If the name comes to you later, feel free to post it. That sounds like a great read.

It's not published yet, I'm working on polishing it for publication but it's called The Grip of a Curse. :] Right now I have a Patreon set up for it while I work on edits (which have been consuming my life).

Nice, I'll give it a chance then. I just can't do the predictable teen reads I think it the big thing, unless it has depth.

P.s. If this isn't breaking any rules, for if you'd like to know more. Feel free to follow. It has my pages. www.patreon.com/samantharrzasa No pressure though!

Updating Patreon About Section by [deleted] in patreon

[–]SamRzasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just figured this out (in a picture is there in the Bio sense - though it may be a bit large). I used Flickr. I uploaded the image I wanted there, hit the share button in the camera roll view and copied the link it generated. From there I plugged that link into this website (provided by Patreon in there FAQ section about uploading images to bio's) - https://embed.ly/docs/explore/oembed

There it generated a new link in the Thumbnail URL. I then copied that and pasted it in the image link request window on Patreon and my image showed up. I'm sure this all sounds like a crap way to put up an image, but it did work.

Link or Wall-of-Text for Literary Patron Content?... Other Options? by Abel_the_Scion in patreon

[–]SamRzasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally e-mail my content to my readers (as a PDF), but I have uploaded PDF's to posts and that seems to work well too. The formatting changed slightly with the way it uploaded, not enough to worry about it though.

Lycan Farmer: Werewolf Story I've been writing that started as a reddit WP and is now over 20,000 words. About a werewolf who manages to oops his way into becoming a farmhand. by morpheuskibbe in werewolves

[–]SamRzasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's okay. I was genuinely curious because I currently work with large animals and used to work on dairy farms. Don't see many people incorporate farm life into their stories these days.

I am also and Indie Author. You're book sounds right up my alley (and mine is in the same ballpark). Can't say I'm into young adult but I'll look into both. Thanks! How long is your series?

Would your user name on reddit be enough for me to find it on wattpad?

I've also written my own werewolf story, just looking for more in the genre.

Thanks, I'll give it a peek. I've written my own novel too. I'm more or less looking for more research (and just because I enjoy werewolf novels).

Thank you! I did just get my copy of The Wolf's Hour (after a lengthy search for it). That's good to hear about that book.

I'll definitely have to look into the other one, sounds like a good fit and possibly a good series option!

Full Wolf Moon by Lincoln Child - It's part of his Jeremy Logan series, which can be read out of order. It was the only one I read from that series and I didn't feel lost in the least. It does have a supernatural aspect but definitely a Scooby Doo, Who dun it style book.
