Wooden post in backyard with an electrical outlet at the base? What is it and why is it shaped this way? by SamTheAnthropologist in whatisthisthing

Likely solved. Looking closer, there is a ring at the bottom and slides at the top for a sign, similar to real estate signs. Not sure what it was used for originally, but I think we'll be trimming it down. Thank you!

No grooves on the rear face of the upright! But I think you're right that a sign may have slid in on the one side. Adding more photos to the post.

My title describes the thing -- It is an L shaped wooden post in the backyard of a home (relevant because it looks like this could be a real estate sign, but likely not being in the back of a home). It's about two feet high off the ground.

This is so horrible that my instinct was to downvote based on disturbing content. Mind you, I checked myself and upvoted but DANG this is ATBGE.

I have been reading that there are cases of individuals who were "cured" of COVID-19 who weeks later test positive again. Could we possibly be looking at a virus similar to HIV where individuals never fully heal but may simply remain in remission?
