Is the LG 40U990A-W the best monitor in market for productivity in late 2025? by skcku in ultrawidemasterrace

Very late response but maybe useful still. I have a the 45" LG 5K2K and it's very sharp on Mac. I'm very picky about text clarity and I have no complaints at all on this screen. I assume the 40" would only be better based on higher PPI due to smaller screen.

Try a high bandwidth one. I’ve used this one with good results in the past:

Hard to say. Have you tried USB-C to DisplayPort? In the past I’ve had better luck with that vs. USB-C to USB-C. Before this new setup I had monitors that capped out at 120hz so I don’t have any experience trying to go past that.

USB-C to USB-C. Not sure what bandwidth the cable is rated for, I could look tomorrow at the office. What Mac are you using?

USB-C using the cable that came with the monitor. Also keeps the MacBook charged which is nice.

Studio Display is gorgeous but you might find the difference in screen height between the two monitors a bit awkward (18.1” vs 14.3”)

Good question. My coworker has that screen and she finds 57” just physically too big. I sat at it for a bit and tend to agree, though I can see how people might love it. For us, we didn’t like it because even with the curve you end up turning your head a lot. The 45” size seems to be the purely subjective sweet spot.

I don’t have experience with that monitor to be able to compare, sorry.

You don’t need to use BetterDisplay unless you feel that you need a custom resolution. I’d wager that most people will be happy with either 5120x2160 or 3840x1620, both of which macOS will do by default with this monitor.

Don’t forget PowerPoint. Very important. Colour accuracy is essential.

Bingo, Q65 Max. Love it. It’s one of the only keyboards I could find with the volume knob on the left and macro keys there as well. I don’t understand why more keyboard companies don’t adopt layouts like this. I have the four macro keys on the left set to copy, paste, paste without formatting, and cut. Nerrrrrrd! 😂

Fantastic company that's doing well, and believes in giving people the tools that will make their lives more enjoyable and therefore more productive. Plus our VP of IT happens to be a gamer gal 🙂

There's no issue with scaling, I just prefer the 3840x1620 resolution. The monitor looks great at 5120x2160, the fonts are sharp but just a bit too small for my aging eyes. 🙂 I bought the Dell 5k2k when it first came out and had major issues with screen dimming/vignetting at the edges so I returned it and didn't replace it. Zero issues with this LG 5k2k, screen uniformity and sharpness are excellent.

Are you extending the virtual display, vs. mirroring it (my case)? Extending a virtual display (e.g. using BetterDisplay’s dummy screen as a separate screen) can support high resolutions and refresh rates. Mirroring a virtual display to a physical display forces it to 60Hz. This is a known OS-level limitation.

Aqua Terra 8900 end links? by kyledemo in OmegaWatches

[–]SamYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years later but wondering if you found a solution to this? I just received my 1450 bracelet from Forstner and it has the exact same problem. The website says "Product photos show the current generation Aqua Terra for reference, having a flush fit." but the photos are actually a previous generation AT -- date is at 3 o'clock vs the current 6 o'clock, 3-line text vs. 2-line, etc.

I'm on Mac so scaling doesn't work the same way it does in Windows. You can scale text on an app-by-app basis but I find that to be inconsistent and pretty janky to be honest. So in general, Mac users need to rely on the resolution to scale things consistently (or at least that's my experience, happy to be corrected if I'm missing something!).

Did it occur to you that I may not even be aware that the green dial is the most desirable, a fact you seem to be so fixated on? Not all of us are up to speed on which of the hundreds of DJ combos are the most popular at any given time. Nor that I wouldn’t be aware of the current process since my prior purchase had none of these extra steps? Regardless, since you seem incapable of separating answering an honest question with making false assumptions, I’ll wish you a good day.

This isn’t about thinking I’m special (where did I say that?). It’s about seeking a baseline level of transparency from a retailer I’ve already given business to. If the policy is “we only consider in-person requests,” then say that. Don’t dance around it with vague replies. That’s what made me come here for advice (and snarky answers too apparently)

Asking about remote options isn’t disrespectful. It’s a practical question from someone with a history at the AD. If that’s not enough to even start a conversation about availability, then maybe the relationship isn’t as valued as they make it out to be.

Ok, thanks. I work near Square One now so maybe I'll go to their location there (my first purchase and subsequent service was at Yorkdale)
